Mirabella 1W LED Bulbs $2.99 (Coles) <-- Clearance stock

80

UPDATED:
Okay guys, its confirmed these are available across all NSW stores (and maybe nationwide?) - prices vary from store to store however, I've just checked 3 stores and the prices were $4.99, $2.99 and $10! Someone reported $2 in Sydney.

Manufactured in China
These are the older tech LED's (ie not as bright) but still a great price.

20 LEDs / 1W power usage. Spread is more floodlight than focus oriented. If you left 1 of these on 24/7/356 it'd cost less than $2/year. Best used as secondary ambient lighting rather than primary lighting. Not for everyone but if you have somewhere you could use one it's a good deal.

  • Not much of a bargain for anyone else- you bought all the remaining stock. This is probably better off in the forums.

Well I'm assuming other stores also have them - I wouldn't have posted it up if I believed I just dried up the nationwide stockpile :)

I asked the staff who weren't sure but thought other stores would have some too. I also checked Mirabella website and there is no mention of this light anywhere so I'm thinking multiple Coles stores are probably clearing out dead stock just like many are getting with of their Lithium Batties now (commonly used in old Film Cameras)

But if people think this shouldn't be here I'm happy to have it removed.

yeah coles Randwick (who'd have guessed) has them for $2 each. about 15 left. i got a few to play with, crappy brightness about same as a 1W led or 5W incandescent torch since its 1W led as well.

useful for security lights outside. they're mini floodlights

  • Is there an equivalent wattage for 1w led to the old fashioned globes?

eg. for the energy saving halogen globes its 5x power 15w=75w

    • A 1w LED light will output less than a 1W CFL

CFL's output more light (lumens) per watt compared to LEd's

I'm guessing its around 10W in old scale incandescent speak. Really not bright at all but hey its 1W. It stops people tripping into things in my hallway but its not really "light" if that makes sense. I think the better use for these are ambient background lighting, to make stuff look cool rather than using it as general lighting. The 3 bulbs together otherside are pretty cool but only when all 3 are pointing in the same direction. Scatter them and then its less impressive.

Unfortunately the packaging says nothing about lumens, nor could I find anything on the bulb itself on their website. I've never bought LED bulbs before so I can't even make comparisons. In all hone

        • 10w is really dim then. The lowest light output for a standard socket is usually 25w in the old bulb scale or 5w in CFL. This light can usually be used for a desk lamp.
If its actually 10w it can only be used for a hall light?

          • @voter1: Realistically, no.
I have a pokey little area of hallway outside the toilet, hard to describe but it works well there. I've got my sparky coming around soon so I'm going to see about LINING the hallway in these things maybe. But their real purpose would be for lamps, or for those wall lamps shining onto artwork etc… Secondary lighting basically.

        • yeah you're quite right, equivalent to about 5-10w incandescent. this is typical for older tech 50mw led based lights. newer ones using 1W-5W leds will be brighter per watt.

    Where are these lights made?

    China?

    or USA?

  • DX aren't in the USA, and using 110v LED globes in a 240v socket results in an electrical fire, not shortened life :)

  • So are they manufactured in China or the USA?

was at coles chittaway central coast picked up 10 of them still 15- 20 left at 2.99 each

Yeah guys I had to drive a flatmate to a party and dropped into Berkley Vale Coles and they had them for $2.99 also. Then on my way home I dropped into another one who had them on sale for $10! So its all over the place but 3 from 3 stores all had them.

To the manufacturing question "Made in China"

I've got 13 running now lol. Most are in outside lamps lighting up the pathway around the the house. My drunk flatmate will appreciate it when she rocks up in a few hours (I don't have sensor lights wired up yet) and this is way cheaper than leaving regular lights on, since I pay the bills :)

  • Got 3 @ $2ea, dunno what I'll do with 'em now………
