1GB cPanel Web Hosting $2.50/Year for Life @ HostRepublic

70
thanksOZB1

Hi guys, It's just over a year since I joined Ozbargain! It has definitely made me spend a lot of money… but it's happy money anyway ;)

So I decided to go into the web hosting business not long ago, the business has been doing better than I thought, possibly because of the low prices, as an OZBer - of course I assume everyone likes things cheap.

Back on topic, I'm making it super cheap on OZB, not really planing on making much money from it.

For $2.50 every year, you can get the following:

1GB Disk Space
3GB Monthly Bandwidth
2 FTP Accounts
2 Email Accounts
2 MySQL Databases
2 Subdomains
2 Parked Domains
Softaculous - One Click Install (WordPress, Joomla etc)
cPanel based
Order it directly

You do need a domain name to sign up, but you can register it from elsewhere if you like, I did include most of the popular domain names, see here

For those of you wanting Aussie based web hosting, sorry :-( Maybe in the future.
I decided to go with US based because the price can be more attractive, and it is also better for websites targeting more countries.
With the use of CDN (like CloudFlare), it can improve the speed by a large margin, so it won't be a huge problem. Also I recommend using the cPanel file manager as well, it's faster than ftp.

You can install SSL on it easily without buying a dedicated IP. (SNI enabled)

Unfortunately, right now SSH access is not available, neither is site transfer.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I always try my best to answer support tickets.

and NO, I DON'T oversell, I'm not planing on ruining my lovely business.

  • Not too shabby.

  • might be dumb when i go to order it comes up $4.74 for half a year

    • +1

      Yep, you might be. =p

Select annually, then apply the coupon.

    • beaten by 6 seconds….

  • Thanks. Ordered using an existing Domain. Not sure if I really need another web host, but will give your site a try and compare with the ones I'm currently using. Cheers.

    • Thanks, hopefully you'll like it :)

  • any reseller deals?

    • Not at the moment, I think it will happen soon though.
      (most likely Chicago server)

      • pm me if you get the reseller plans starting.
        whats your SLA?
        cheers

        • No problem, I'll let you know,
for the Chicago server, 100% uptime.
If I may ask, how much space do you think you need for reseller?

  • Is the 3GB bandwidth monthly or annually?

    • +2

      monthly :)

      • Thanks! Another question please, will I be able to use this to host my third-level domain like something.somewhere.com, if so can this be changed later?

        • Do you mean like a subdomain? for example: au.hostrepublic.net
The system doesn't allow you to do that, I'm not sure if there's a way to bypass the system.
What I normally do is to just register using yourdomain.com, and then in cPanel create the subdomain. (and I assume you have another hosting account somewhere using yourdomain.com?, if so - use A record to point to your subdomain IP at HostRepublic, this can be done in your domain registrar's control panel)

hostrepublic.net and au.hostrepublic.net are not hosted on the same server (.au is actually hosted in Australia), the above method is how I did it.

        • I see. Problem is I already have www.somewhere.com hosted somewhere else, as well as some other subdomains. My intention is to only use this to host a subdomain, say an rss reader for example.

        • You can use coupon code "zecoj" to signup a semi-annually hosting, let's use this free account to test :)
          (Use www.somewhere.com to register)

        • Thanks Rep.,
It appears that subdomains are supported. There's an option to create a subdomain and associated doc-root. Cheers for going out of your way!

        • No worries :)

  • Best (cheapest) place to register a domain?

    • Not here ;)
I think resellerclub's .com domains are on sale.

      • Cool, they're $18.18 for .com's (2 years)
        Anywhere else?

        • +2

          crazydomains.com.au has it for $4.99/year
if you only need to update nameservers - go for it
(all other services require buying an expensive addon)

  • Php supported? 3gb perth month might not be enough for small bussiness website

    • PHP and MySQL supported.
No I wouldn't think 3GB is enough, enough for smaller blogs/websites only.
If you need more space, I can do a deal on the higher-end plans like 10GB SSD Space and 100GB Bandwidth?

      • How much for 100gb host? How many SQL can I have? And where/how reliable is the root server?

        • 100GB bandwidth (10Gb Space) the best I can do is $10/year recurring.
It's located in Chicago and you'll have unlimited everything other than the space and bandwidth.
I haven't experienced any downtime on that server, so right now I'd say it will have 99.9% uptime most of the time (so far 100%).
Just beware that there will still be no SSH access.

If the demand is high I'll do the 10GB deal after this one finishes.

        • Is that 10GB SSD? Also what's the bandwidth pipe of the data centre?

I might be interested in that.

        • That's right, 10GB SSD + 100GB Bandwidth, 1Gbps port (Data Centre in Chicago, Illinois)

        • Thanks Rep!

Is that available now? I'd like to purchase it and do some testing before moving my sites over.

You also mentioned it has unlimited everything other than space and bandwidth. Does that include unlimited domains, and emails?

        • Yep, unlimited. (Well, within the 10GB allowance)
I'll PM you more info on that soon.

        • I am also interested with this deal. Could you pm the deatils too.

        • I'd be keen to definately sign up to that kind of plan.

Drop me a PM if you are taking private signups now or when the deal goes live.

        • I am interested as well. Php capanel and unlimited MySQL? Pm me rep

        • Hi! Your PM is not open.

        • I don't know how to open pm. Can you send me link rep?

        • rep private messaging enabled now. Pm plz thank you

        • Oops sorry I didn't see the comment.
          I'll PM you soon.

  • How many addon domains can you have on the Budget plan?

    • 2

  • May I change my domain name in the future?

    • That can be done, yes.

      • how does one go about doing this? in settings somewhere or ticket?

        • I'll need to do it for you. Ticket it is.
I'd only recommend changing the domain when you're using it to put a HTML site though, cause with databases it can be tricky sometimes.
