Has been $10 in the past from Coles with over $30 spend

  • Although to be fair, this comes with the ZTE MF70 dongle as well as 2GB of data rather than the 1GB on the coles deal

    • Yep - and comes with the USB AC adapter, which the Coles ones don't from memory (although you can get a similar USB AC adapter cheap anyway)

the coles deal was for the non-usb mobile version. much better option IMO.

is this the 1st time telstra have had these on sale ?

    • First Coles deal was this one. I have two of them

  • Can this be unlocked?

How about dropping the rates instead of the device for once…

It's currently cheaper to buy a new device each month then throw it away…

a 1GB recharge is $40, and this device comes with 2GB for $29.

Aldi $15 for 2gb. Uses Telstra limited network.

    • jv makes a lot sense here, although we all understand Telstra lower the initial price to attract new users.

    • Inkjet printer sales model - cheaper to buy printers than refills

      • except that most printers come with trail packs of ink.

here, you're actually getting twice the data for less money… plus a dongle thrown in for good measure…

        • Please explain how "trail packs of ink" work, O knowledgeable one.

        • 1/3 capacity of ink in these cartridges.

        • +1

They 1/3rd fill them to keep things nice and light for all your trail and general outdoors printing needs.

        • Printers usually come with a "starter" cartridge. Same size, but not filled to capacity.

        • usually get 30-50 pages out of them…

  • which device is better out of the two deals (the coles $10 deal and this deal)???
By better I mean, which gives me better reception so I can get faster speeds?

I got the coles one but the reception is no good where I am so I think I need to buy an antenna for it. Happy to buy this if its a better device

  • Hey REP,
Any plans to offer them at $10 with a supermarket spend again?
Great little device, but I paid $10 each last time like the others say.

  • digital planned obsolesence - make it 365 day expiry and they could sell 20x as many. But they're greedy, and want you to cough up every month (who does that, anyway ???)

  • Can this be used to create a 3G wifi hotspot on a wifi-only device (via OTG) to get on the internet?

    • yes. read the link.

but it requires to be powered.

  • Will it only work on Telstra network? TIA
