Never in my life (only if I was rich) would I think of shopping here! Thanks OP!

Culture Kings seems to be marketed at "wiggas", white kids who think they are black and wear their caps backwards. I pass their store everytime I visit Bribsane's Queen Street Mall, loud music and a wall of monitors depicting hip Afro-Americans. I'm too over the hill to understand the attraction of this type of teen culture.

contrary to popular opinion, you don't actually need to be black to listen to hip-hop and be interested in the culture (of which, clothing is a part of)

    • Same here, I pass it everyday. Based on a 3 second observation and the doof music I thought they might be a music/CD shop rather than a clothing store lol.

Are you too over the hill to remember when Rock 'n Roll was considered the devils music?
Just as Rock evolved from Blues, Country etc , Hip Hop came from Jazz, Gospel, and Funk.
Hip Hop has been around for almost 40 years now yet old fogies are still touting it as some new fangled wikiwiki crap.
Btw; Im in my thirties now and it still appeals to me.

Hip hop is on its last legs. It won't make it past the decade thank god. Even its heart land (US) is moving on to EDM at a massive pace.

The only people still interested in this fashion is tweens-teens. Oh and people with a peter pan issue.

In the past year or so I've been to Kendrick Lamar (sold out Enmore), Asap Rocky (Sold out Hordern), Eminem (Not sold out but pretty damn close at ANZ). Off to Kanye West in May (Sold out at Ent Cent i believe). Just had a quick look at US billboard charts and number 1 album is Oxymoron by Schoolboy Q. Yes i can see how you could draw the conclusion that hip hop is on its last legs.

Check the resident DJs at the Vagas clubs. Almost exclusively EDM artists now. Go back a few years and it would have been 100% hiphop.

Look at TomorrowWorld and Electric Zoo.

Hip-hop isn't dead and will probably never "die". But the fad and mainstream success is coming to an end.

        • I went to Vegas late 2012 Luxor, Bank at Bellagio, Luvo at Venetian, Pure at Caesars were all playing hip hop and it was awesome!

I hardly think a music genre that has been around for over 30 years is a fad.

Has dance music (sorry i really hate the American term EDM) surged in popularity? Sure has i have no doubt about it but does this spell the end for hip hop? I really dont think so i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Besides lets not forget that 99% of dance music (house/techno/DnB/Dubstep) today is derived from black music from the 70's anyways (hip hop included) so really theyre just different branches off the same tree:)

        • Ha! That's what my dad said back in 1992 when I was bumping Del.

mate i really appreciate this post—-they had some dope stuff——- 3 for 50 for any of those things is a steal—-if you like that stuff—-i do——i grabbed a harden jersey—-a knicks snapback and a jacket i liked—-made my day mate :)

  • are this deal available in store?

  • no matter what i tried to put into my cart 'out of stock' while it didn't say so when originally ordering ..

I find it quite amusing that because we listen to hip hop music it is assumed we are wannabe African Americans. Yet if we were to say we were into Jazz/House/Rock (all genres of popular music created by African Americans) these accusations would not be thrown at us.

Back to OP nice post i dont usually buy from Culture Kings rather just get it off Karmaloop but theres some bargains on there 4shizzle*.

*Terminology used in jest and should not be misconstrued as an attempt at "wigga talk".

  • Of the NBA jerseys, only the OKC James Harden jersey is on sale.

    LOLOL

have a 14yo and him and his mates love this store and what they sell…. great marketing….. appeals directly to the image obsessed teen… to bad they will all look back when they are older and see how goofy they look with their big fringe hair cuts and hats that they leave the stickers and on.
