Saw this refurbished Toshiba notebook on OO.com.au (http://www.oo.com.au/Toshiba-Satellite-S40t-A00T-To_P226145C…). Just wondering if anyone has had experience with them.
Their FAQ (http://www.oo.com.au/help-centre/products/) suggests that the notebooks are manufacturer refurbished.
"An item that is classed as "refurbished" is an item that has been returned to the manufacturer, who has thoroughly tested the item, and repackaged it for resale. We only source refurbished items from manufacturers who have extremely good, quality products and reputations, and have very high standards of testing."
Worth biting?
I bought a refurb Asus laptop from OO late last year - it was almost indistinguishable from brand new and functions perfectly. I've seen similar comments from others here and elsewhere regarding Asus refurbs - how relevant this is to Toshiba refurbs, I have no idea.
A couple of points to note:
(1) The Asus was received well-packaged for transport, but without any of its orginal packaging; and
(2) The original serial number had been removed and replaced with a new one that specifically states it is a refurbished item (which may affect resale value).
OO has a "No Questions Asked Money Back Policy" (http://www.oo.com.au/warranty-and-returns-policy/), so if you buy it but don't like what you see when you open the box, I suggest you use that facility.
