How to save fees to book Katy Perry's concert tickets?

I am thinking about booking several tickets to Katy Perry's concert @ Brisbane.
Checking on Ticketek website, there seems to be a a few fees involved - credit card fee, delivery fee etc.
What would be the best way to book tickets without any fees? I can physically go to one of Ticketket outlets and I do have cash to pay for them.
Also, Telstra released pre-sale tickets last week, but are they really good?
Am I missing out on good seats because I am not with Telstra?
Please let me know your experience booking concert tickets.

Alternative is to ask John Mayer for his spare tickets. I'm guessing that he and his entourage won't be joining Katy on this tour…

    Sorry, that doesn't help very much… :)

  • You can buy Ticketek tickets and have them printed out at Westfield Shopping Centres. Not sure fee wise you may want to give them a call.

    Important:
Ticketek Agencies do not accept telephone enquiries or bookings. Opening hours are subject to change. Agencies may have reduced hours on Public Holidays.

Only agencies listed as Pre-Paid Collection Outlet are able to print pre-purchased event tickets bought online or by phone

Only specific NSW agencies listed as Pre-Paid Collection Outlet/Parking Collect can provide parking tickets for Sydney Olympic Park.

To view the parking page click here

For details on conditions and who is permitted to collect pre-purchased tickets see our Help page.

  • Ticketek charge a transaction fee based on how you buy the ticket. There is no fee free way to buy tickets, from memory in descending order of cost it is via phone, outlet then online. You only get charged the fee once per transaction so buy them all at once - however they are non-refundable so take that into account.

Although their fee is higher than online, I usually go to an outlet to buy my tickets if I am not buying GA tickets. They allow you to choose your seats instead of getting assigned them like when you buy them online. You can also pay cash there and avoid the CC fee. Last time I booked with Ticketmaster online however, there was a tool for selecting your seat so maybe Ticketek has something like that now.

The risk with going to the outlet for a popular show is that you have to line up and might miss out if it sells out quick enough, especially ones with numerous layers of pre-sales. Last time I purchased a ticket in Brisbane, I went to the convention centre as it appeared not many people knew it was an outlet and there was no line. This was over 3 years ago so I do not know if it is still an agency.

  • If it's a show you don't mind if you get tickets or not, or want to risk it, one way to get cheaper tickets is to look for people reselling on gumtree/ebay in the last few days before the event when some people are desparate to offload them for cheap to recoup at least some of their moeny - but usually cheaper than original ticket price. (I don't mean looking online straight after it's sold out and people are trying to sell them for more than ticket price). The risk of course is that you don't get tickets to the event, but as stated, you have to go into it with that frame of mind, and if you get to attend, then that's a bonus!

  • The best way to buy tickets is to purchase Gift Vouchers from a Ticketek outlet with cash to avoid the credit card surcharge. The best way would actually be to buy $50 gift vouchers with ING (you pay a 2% credit card fee though, but get 5% off), but don't buy them all on the same day as ING picks up on it.

You then use the Gift Vouchers on your computer.
Remember there is a 24 hour activation period on the vouchers.

There was a Facebook Presale that went ahead on Friday to her new shows.

  • Thank you very much for all your useful info!
So there is no fee free way…
Tickets agencies are as bad as flight agencies.
