Harvey Norman Ringwood (VIC) Closing down Sale

285

First post so please forgive any omissions..

Harvey Norman Ringwood store (168 Maroondah Hwy) was told on sat 8-March that they will be closing down by end of month so clearing out all their floor stock. Lots of good bargains on fridges, washers, etc etc.

eg LG fully-integrated fridge for less than $1000 down from $2500.

We were there on Sat afternoon and they had only just started re-ticketing the store so no doubt many more bargains pls post what you find..

Dave

PS be nice to the staff they used to be Clive Peters and went through the bankruptcy etc so they have been through a lot — I have no affiliation with the store or staff just happened to pop in the other day, and ya gotta feel for them..

Harvey Norman Ringwood is a clearance centre anyway and not a normal Harvey Norman store

    • Harvey Norman has a few factory outlets in Vic. They are Ringwood, Dandenong and Richmond.

Are the products in Ringwood "factory seconds" like the outlet in Dandenong?

It has the seconds in a separate shop out the back. The streetfront shop is normal full retail goods. Bought my avr there last year, so its not my fault its closing lol.

The first comment killed this thread. I guess this is no bargain for panda.

Nah he pretended to buy four consoles and then posted a link to an Xbox One for sale on Gumtree as proof, problem was the actual real seller called him out on it. Classic. I have a few screenshots.

Please post somewhere and post links :D

I guess it is too much to hope for that this is the first of many of his stores to shut down.

Yes, I know, it is a forlorn hope!

    • It'll lose a lot of good people their jobs though. For every three crap HN's there's a decent one out there.

    • There are people who work for Harvey Norman, why hope they are put out of a job? Why hope they can't feed their family.

    • Some HVN store / staff are great (Alexandria NSW, Chadstone VIC). Some of them are quite rude / unhelpful (there are quite a few of them, but I won't name them). One store agreed to hold an item for me. They sold it to someone else before I arrived. Couldn't be bothered calling me.

    • Seriously?
      Where do you work?
Do you want your place of employment to shut down? I would like an honest answer to this.

  • heading there today!

Ask about the cool dude who bought all the xboxes and ps4s yesterday lol.

I was only kidding, most of the stuff there are refurbs but at heavily discounts =)

Kidding as well when you rang the real seller on Gumtree and abused the guy? Yeah, he said you went psycho at him.

        • This is not OzBluff.

        • Rubbish, its a standard HN store with everything new (over 2 buildings), and another separate building containing the clearance centre which contains ex store floor stock, some returns, damages, and a lot of NOS.

    • No PS4/XBone in stock. Bought myself a Denon 2313 for $672 though.

Just came back from there. Found clearance sticks on most of the big appliances such as fridges, stoves, washers etc. and some of the TVs in the other store. So if you are looking for something bulky, you may find a bargain there. I was looking for some bargain laptops for my mrs and came out with empty hands.

I saw a stick of "25% off RRP excluding the clearance stuff" on a desk so there may be better price in the coming days.

    • Did you happen to notice whether they had any good deals on Chromebooks?

      • I didn't notice any Chromebooks on sale but then again, I'm no fan of Chromebook at all.

Just went there and came back empty handed … the best deal I found was a Samsung Galaxy S2 case for 2$ … (haha) and some discounted point and shoot cameras starting at 49$. Was looking for a 60 inch or bigger TV … but I would say at the moment it's just the usual prices for floor stock … nothing really special. Lots of full price items still … pretty disappointed for a closing down sale.

As I did not really found 1 deal I should give it a negative … waste of petrol … maybe in the last week you will get a deal on bulky items. But I expect that they would just shift most of the items to there stores.

And for the ones who were looking at Game Consoles … no PS4 or XBOX One …

I was quite disappointed too, didn't feel like an 'End of Lease' sale at all. Drove my van there too and petrol's not cheap these days.

  • I just went there, seems to be around $200-300 discount off the normal ticket for fridges (in the factory store)

In the normal store I saw 1 box each of Klipsch Custom-1 and Custom-2 earphones with normal ticket price $399 & 279 discounted to $70 and $50 respectively. You can get them cheaper than the normal ticket price online but I thought the discounted prices weren't too bad.

  • didnt see any fridge marked down from $2,000 to under $1,000….

Went there this morning, massive waste of 2 hours. I don't know how this got so many upvotes for what amounts to a normal sale of 10-20% off. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

  • +3

Went there, and pretty much a waste of time. Everything is still pretty much Harvey Norman price. The clearance iPod touch cases are $2 each (not that great) and is for previous gen. All the tablets are still expensive, likewise for phones.

Luckily, I had to go somewhere else nearby so it was not a complete waste of a trip. It is always sad to see an AUS store closes down / end of lease close down. However, Harvey Norman stores really need to be more competitive.

By the way, the store is slow updating / putting stickers of the revised price on the items. That said, they best they will do is cost price (though some of their quoted cost price is still quite expensive).

    • +1 Agreed

Best to wait until the end of the month hoping the deals will be better then

  • +1

Waste of time. Listed prices are not even competitive. Sales rep wouldn't even price match JB HiFi using the old line, "that's lower than our buy price".

Moreover, it's not actually a closing down sale. It's an end of lease sale for their retail division in the front building. Their staff and sales in the rear building will be moving into the front building.

I went there and it was a waste of time … can buy TV's cheaper online. I rang first but "our policy is to not hand out prices over the phone, but hurry coz there are some fantastic bargains".

    • +3

You should have mentioned you were a professional.

Went well for us. We got a couple of things.

A Tefal Food processor for A$40 (RRP is A$89.90), a Homedics Illuminated BEauty Mirror for A$39.00 (RRP A$59.95)
and two Kenwood Chefs for A$250 each (RRP is A$460.00)

    Thanks OP.

  • This post not belongs here, as there are no bargains.. May be move to the forums.. Guys not waste your time going there, typical HN sale

  • WASTE OF TIME.. NO BARGAINS and the SALES GUYS EVEN NOT BOTHERED TO MAKE A DEAL.

  • great bargains to be found. we went on Labour day. the service in the oven section was disgusting and I walked out but went in to TV section and purchased Sharp 3d tv for $1800 and the sales person offered to help with selling me the oven. a F& P RRP $2999 purchased it for $1300 and stove top RRP $1099 for $550. Yes Harvey Normans prices are inflated compared to some other stores.

  • Went there on the last hour of the last day - they were throwing away laptop bags. Got myself a Targus notebook bag RRP$55 with competitors selling at about $35…for only $2! That's a steal.
