On our NORA tour last week, we got to meet a couple of interesting businesses. Just thought I'd share these with OzBargainers.
iFlyFlat -
Also an OzBargainer, his business creates tailored strategies that earn you more points and will wisely book your frequent flyer flights too. Basically, it's for those who have a good deal of frequent flyer points and want to know the best way to manage it. He has some good tips on using your frequent flyer points wisely and how to fly business/first class for half price.
Buymestuff -
They don't have a website up yet but their model is slightly similar to Priceline in the US but for products. So you go to this website and search for a Samsung 32" TV. Retailers will compete with other retailers to give you a custom offer, something you won't get publicly. Offers will be based on data the site has built on the customer. Well, I haven't seen the site work so that's basically all I know.
AussieCommerce
They own Cudo, Deals.com.au, Ouffer and just picked up BrandExclusive. My take on them is that they pick up businesses that are basically struggling but were once quite valuable and try to turn them around. Apparently, Ouffer is pronounced oofer, not offer.
GroceryCop
We didn't see this company but was featured on The Checkout. They have collected price data on products sold at Coles and Woolworths. You can track prices over time and supermarket to give an indication to shoppers of whether they should buy an item or not. This is something I would have thought mygroceries.com.au would have done.
Lots of entrepreneurial spirit in Australia and good to see projects that support better bargaining.
I actually just found this OzBargain page when I was googling GroceryCop :) Agree that a lot of bargain hunting is about data collection and automation now.
