I received crowns, doc says he will give a 2 year warranty. Does the Australian Consumer Law cover dental like crowns under the warranty or did he really give me a decent local warranty?

Lol never heard of a dentist specifically saying that they give crowns have a 2 years warranty (but it's been a while for me). I have two on my molars (one gold and one porcelain) and they have been good for 5+ years and 3+ years respectively.
I did have to get the porcelain one redone about 2 weeks but at their cost, cause they didn't put enough glue or something well it was half and half since my tooth was pretty damaged close to the root.
As long as your dentist did a good job and you don't chew rocks your crown should last for a long long time.
Am curious on this , I got 2 crowns and both came out and snapped the tooth within 2 years. At least one I believe was because a really bad fit too big and heavy.
The dentist just went 'oh well teeth must have been fractured'. But $6k (root canal plus crown) is a lot for no responsibility required.Definitely a shit dentist and if the fit was imperfect, it would have been their fault.
Also, you paid 6k for 2 RCT + 2 crown? That seems to be an awful lot. Can get an implant for that much
Thanks need to find a new one. Not happy last time I tried it was a disaster that lead to one of the root canals in first place.
2 year warranty?? that seems like a pittance. for the amount they charge i would be expecting 10-20 years.
porcelain ones are pretty fragile but then they shouldn't be used in situations where they are going to experience heavy loads
My dentist told me my crowns should last 20 years and he has been right. I have had no trouble (touch wood). I'd be finding a different dentist who would expect more than 2 years from a crown.

There is no warranty covering dental treatment. As long as the Dentist warns you of the expected lifetime of the treatment and allows you to make an informed decision, then the dentist is in the clear.
However a good crown in a perfect mouth should last for a lot more than 2 years.
e.g. If he tells you getting a crown is a bad idea and that it would only last for a short period, if you get it and it fails in 2 months, the dentist will be in the clear. However, if he doesn't tell you that it's a bad idea and it fails, he will be in deep shit.
