    Website looks dodgy to me…

    • No phone number
    • No address
    • No ABN
    • Weird rant about ex-planet Pluto
    • Add to these

      • Only 5 available need at least 10 to be a deal (from memory)
      • Still overpriced, I don't say this to be rude but when your asking $150 for a photo it had better be a damn good one.

I can get a print of artwork from an artist for $65, now this isn't a photo so not exactly comparing oranges with oranges. (Not associated with linked artist just an example of an artist I happen to like).

Good luck in the future, If you plan on selling some prints I would drastically reduce the price point though.

        That's some useful feedback rekabkram.

I hadn't noted the 'minimum 10 to be a deal' in the guidelines, but will happily extend the offer should they be used up. Your advice on pricing is noted, honest feedback is important to any fledgling enterprise.

PS I really like some of the work on the link you posted, 'Forest Spirit' in particular.

  • You don't seem to sell to much.

We only ever release 9 prints of any image.
Well, you have nine left of every image.

    You should google unique

    • Well, you have nine left of every image.

They had nine left of each a week ago too…

      • Hi Folks,

Adam Wood here (half of the duo behind Oliver Chase). You are spot on in the fact that we have yet to sell much, one of the reasons behind the promotion. We have only recently started promoting the site and are hoping that the amount of images remaining for sale decreases.

My mate & I used a relative's ABN when registering the domain. So while we can't provide much assistance for catbibs or horse feed, we can help out with framed prints. Orders will ship out of Gooseberry Hill however this is not a retail location.

My mate & I used a relative's ABN when registering the domain.

Why didn't you use your own ABN ???

      • That is clearly against the domain registration rules and I'll be reporting that.

As jv noted, why not use your own? Very suss.

  • You might have more luck at a craft market with the tourist crowd using those Melbourne prints. If you do decide to sell photos of Street Art be very careful in relation to both copyright and moral rights.

    • I'm actually very curious about the law on ownership of street art with Banksy being a prime example. Banksy's work is replicated all over and sold for a profit for company's as small as vinyl sticker shops to as big as Walmart. What I'm getting at it is, copywriting street art could only be enforced should the artist come forward and protect their art. But then ownership could be claimed by the person who's property they have 'damaged' without permission and they would make them suseptable to the fullest extent of the law. Not to mention the police could then claim that money under Profits of Criminal activities as most street art is illegal.

As for moral rights, isn't it paying the highest compliment to the artist that they think that the artwork improves upon the landscape? Why should it be fine to take a photo of architecture and not of street art that is on it?

      • Some good points, there.

Copyrighting street art (graffiti) is an interesting concept. As you point out it is typically applied without the owner's permission and without obtaining relevant permits. That being said there are examples of councils wanting to heritage list the art (link at bottom).

Some artists would even say that protecting/copyrighting graffiti is against the 'idea' of graffiti being a transient 'installation'.

I'm no expert on copyright so will end my speculation here, lest I get too far off topic.

Why not buy real art and support Australian artists in the process at http://www.bluethumb.com.au

    • Seriously? How dare you claim that photography isn't art as the representative of a website that sells art.

'Why not buy real art' - here you are being offensive to not only the Original poster and the photographer but all photographers by claiming that their passion and in some cases profession isn't art.

'Support Australian artists' - I haven't seen any evidence that the poster isn't Australian, on the contrary all of the pieces are Melbourne based and it clearly states on the website that the photographer is based in Melbourne, Australia.

You are spamming with your website without a deal and being really rude to the photographer, I strongly recommend that anyone considering making a purchase from your website reconsider and check out Etsy instead.
Speaking of Etsy it may be helpful for the OP to set up a shop there as well as it could offer greater exposure.

    • @Bluethumb: Is that you Mum?

    • $10 000 buys some really hardcore art!
