Hi All,
Through the various bargain postings on OZB, purchased a Lenovo G570 i3 with a 640 GB HDD in October 2012 for my son. Last week the hard drive failed and neither him or myself had ever made a backup or created a recovery disk, thankfully all data was being stored on an external hard drive. I have tried installing a version of Windows 7 and i cannot get the system to boot of the dvd yet when i place a recovery disk of another manufacturer, the system boots okay, i know that the boot sequence is set correctly. As a OZBer, i cannot bring myself to buy the Recovery Disk from Lenovo for $ 59.00.
Can any OZBer who purchased the same laptop kindly create a recovery disk for Windows Home Premium 64 Bit and send me a copy or upload to a drop box and i will download from there.
Thanking you guys in advance for any tips, advice a hopefully a Recovery Disk.
One way you can get the laptop to boot Windows is to install it via a USB drive.
I assume you have a Win 7 installation media somewhere, if you do not you can grab an ISO from the Technet forums

Ensure that the version you are downloading matches what the laptop have — since the COA entitles you to use a specific version of Windows, it won't activate if there is a mismatch.
Use the Windows 7 USB installer program to make a bootable USB drive and run the setup from there.
