Hi, An interesting situation. I bought something online and the item price got reduced before my order was received, I asked for a refund of the difference and was agreed. Instead of getting refunded the price difference I have been refunded the full amount for the item. I am waiting for the refund to be available in my account before paying it back, but curious to know what are the legal ramifications if one doesn't pay them back.
Retailer refunds by mistake

they wont deliver the order. simple.
Wait for a couple of days to check your account. Sometimes, they may refund the incorrect transaction fully, and put through a new transaction for the correct amount. I've had this happen to me with a hotel I stayed at.
This happened to me at least twice too. Can't for the life of me remember what I'd purchased, but they went through the same process of refunding the amount in full, then processing it again with the correct amount to be debited.
OP, just wait and see if that happens, or if you'd rather speed it up, contact them explaining what's happened (if you want to do the 'right' thing here).
I'm with ilostnemo.
As I have said I'll pay them back once the refund is available in my account, I'll not be holding their money, I have received my item. But, my question is more around the legalities of it and, if one in this instance doesn't pay them their money. This is for my knowledge then a case of not wanting to pay them their money.
Just do the right thing, as the shop did the right thing by you.
