what's the big deal with these? look just like $2 ones at big w and k mart?
I think it's more like a brand thing???
Just like Polo, i mean Ralph Lauren, the fancy name… Looks like a normal polo t-shirt to me…
Sometimes when people have money they chase something to make them look "good"
But i have to say they must be better quality than the less expensive ones, but is it that much difference, not sure! Haha..
Definitely not a 'brand' thing, at least with me.
These are some of the most comfortable and durable thongs I've found. But has the recipe changed? Are they really as durable as they were when they were a boutique selling item? Now that they are sold at places like ALDI and BigW, my pessimism has grown.
Meh….
3 days ago I bought thongs from Big W for $3.18, and they are pretty much the most comfortable pair of thongs I've ever bought.
When these Haviwhatevers and other 'big name' brands get to single digits, THEN I'll be impressed.
Until then, I'll let the shmucks with more dollars than sense buy them :).Can't go anywhere without tripping over a hipster these days…
Or without hearing someone use the word 'hipster'…
How much are they normally?
Those ones are $20
Not worth it, all 'good' sizes will be sold out.
Easier to o to city beach online and get a few promo codes.
Even easier to grab few for free. Refresh your summer promo is still on, but regular sizes are almost out of stock. Still worth the price.
Considering some people seem to live in these $15 isn't too bad for footwear for the summer. These all look like Top version which aren't much more than this normally anyway. It's the Slim, metallic and "bedazzled" versions that cost.
Kmart North Rocks have got numerous styles reduced to $1 for thongs. Just a heads up for people looking for thongs and are in the area.
Authentic Havaianas are not sold at Big W. I called Havaianas Aussie office and they confirm they have not supplied Big W with any stock and cannot confirm where they would have got it from, this also means if you purchase at an unauthorized re-seller you do not get covered by Havaianas 6 month warranty and it's possible these might be fake anyway. Wouldn't bother.
That may make sense actually, I'm in big w now in Coffs Harbour and the ones they have here seem to mostly have mis-shaped straps and generally look like seconds. The no name brands look better condition. I reckon they got a big shipment of seconds from somewhere or they are fakes.
I've said this before. Paul's warehouse has a good ongoing price for 2 pairs.

Just went to store and there's no sizes and really bad colours. Looked fake with twisted straps also. Called havaianas Australia and they confirmed Big W product is not covered under warranty. Best to buy from their authorized retailers. Be warned.
just return it to big w
This brand is way overrated. This price is ok but definitely not worth the normal going price.
My brother is a manager at a Big W store and he just informed me that they received their stock yesterday and sizes/colours are very limited. His store received no more than 4 of each colour/size combination
Just a heads up to everyone
havianas have a 6month warranty??? I have a whole pile of them in my cupboard that the plug has fallen off, still pretty new. My sister does too. Don't have the receipts but I wonder if they will still cover them.
I found on a recent thong buying mission, that there is nowhere that sells rubber thongs in store apart from havis, mens rubber thongs are everywhere but just plastic for women. There are some other brands of brazillian rubber thongs online though, dupe for example. Cheaper than havis but limited sizes.Yeah they do, pretty good, I doubt any other thong brand would! Go to their website, you can likely find some contact details.
Target's been selling thongs for $5-$10 lately
http://www.target.com.au/c/women/clearance/shoes/W258153?vie…My local Aldi still has some Havianas for $11.99 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127024
Probably just parallel imports to avoid the Aust citizen tax that official suppliers apply ;-)I never buy thongs for less than $150.
Please. Havishmanas or any other fancy rubber made thong over $5 is a joke. Best thongs I've bought were in Malaysia made from Thai rubber which have lasted me for 6 years and gone around 16 countries and still going strong. I've bought K-Mart or Target ones for for $3 and they're perfectly good. Also good for swatting flies or slapping people with little sense.
Proof the Havaianas are dodgy at Big W! $15 for shonky product, no thanks.

All that suggests is that they didn't get it via the local distributor. That doesn't mean they are shonky or non-genuine. It's not like they are made in Australia. The BigW rep states "I can guarantee BIG W sell genuine Havaianas, which also come with a one year warranty with BIG W" - twice the length of warranty than the Haviana website. You can also check them out in person which is more than can be said of any website, Havianas included.
Well, it does suggest they are at least parallel import, and I suspect seconds given the appearance of most of the pairs I saw. Paul's Warehouse also does the same. http://www.paulswarehouse.com.au/storefront/content.aspx?idc…
Looks like the Big W facebook rep is not aware of where the thongs originate. I personally wouldnt care if they were parallel imports if the condition was actually up to scratch, but they are not good.
I heard that Havaianas use a better quality rubber and that they don't make a "squeltchy" sound when your feet get wet! Myth?
I heard they were made in Italy and the Pope has a wardrobe full of them for this exact reason
When did Big W start selling Havaianas?
