Jeep Compass MK Sport MY14 Sports Auto

Hi ,
My son wants to buy a Jeep Compass . I have no clue about Jeep other than what was advertised in the tv commercials.

Is Jeep a vehicle for city driving ? My son has a Ford Focus turbo before it was a write off due to an accident which was not his fault . The other driver rammed in to 6 vehicles including my son , which were parked on the kerb.

What should I be looking for when I talk to the Jeep car dealers ? Does Jeep has a run out model sales campaign now ? Is car insurance costly for Jeep as compared with Ford or Holden vehicles?

My son is 28 years .

Your comment would be appreciated.

  • I considered this for our small business before getting Mitsu ASX(partly due to cost + size is smaller). The cars you have to compare it to are Sprotage + IX35. Both have longer warranty period(5 vs 3 years). Compass is not bad though and looks nice in my opinion. Not so many on the road so more unique. Resale value also might be an issue.

The 4wd with the 2.4l engine (Limited) is the value per $(compared to competition) buy and also has a better drive/nicer interior. Fine for city driving, comfortable etc, i doubt insurance is any different to other small SUV's. Good luck shopping! :)

  • Thank, BhanuL, for your comment and advice.
Resale value is one factor that I have not considered.

I wonder any Jeep owners have any views to share .

  • Nothing strictly wrong with the Jeep Compass/Patriot (same car, different body shell), but I would stump up for a Dodge Journey if I was looking for this kind of vehicle - it includes the gem Chrysler Pentastar V6 engine and can be had for around $30k brand new.

Why doesn't your son buy another Focus 'turbo' (I'm assuming he had an XR5, so the natural upgrade would be to a Focus ST)?

I loathe these soft-roader vehicles. hardly any more interior room but they block out vision on the road for normal car drivers and motorcyclists, for no reason other than to cup the driver's balls and say "look how manly you are, driving a tall vehicle".

  • Hi xyron,
    Thank you for advice.
My son is a bit of bogan. He prefers big and ugly thing.
A bit of big talk among his mates and he is happy as Larry.
