iPage Web Hosting: USD $1.00/Month, Includes 1x Domain-Name ($15 Fee if You Leave Early)

20

Expires Soon: in just over 2 days from 8:30 pm on Sunday, 23 Feb 2014.

This may be a regular Special Sales Event [last posted Jan 2014]
Prices are likely in US$.

DISCLAIMER: I discovered it via a link from a "review" site for hosting services, so, its code may appear in the "Deal URL" (To Mods: When I tried to remove it, the page displayed sans background-color. If you can get the deal to show, fiddle with that URL as you wish.)

NOTE: Let the Live Chat folks set your account up (so you can get 12 months + a domain-name for $12.00 AND can provide a [short,] easy-to-remember Username for future logins to your account; they may also up-sell you to 36 months for just over [US] $105 (ie, if you feel you want to give such a long commitment).

(LiveChat's Up-sell Pitch: If you later (eg, after your cheap 1st year) want to go for 3 years, it's supposed to cost over [US]$ 250.00)

Otherwise, they'll let you buy 12 months (others' deals have fixed 4 week terms). I think monthly cost goes up after whatever "term" you buy now.

iPage look OK "on paper" but I haven't used them before, so I can't say mofe… EXCEPT I wish they used LightSpeed web server, said to be faster than Apache. At least they use Linux. ;-)

After PayPal shows your $12.00 payment, I'd suggest you cancel your PayPal Auto-Payment agreement for iPage, unless you want to be hit for higher monthly rates in about a year.

Anyone used iPage? Anyone know of similarly priced LightSpeed hosters?

  • So you need to talk to the Live Chat person to get it for $12/year? Because on the page it says $1.68/month.

    • " *The promotional price is for the first term of service only and renews at the regular rate. Note: If you register a free domain through us and wish to cancel your monthly account, there is a non-refundable $15 domain fee if you would like to keep your domain."

Well, the page that the review site's link sent us to featured the $1 / month for first term, but it wasn't clear to me if the term was like another hoster's site's, ie, 4 weeks.

I got a 12 month deal with domain name; if - after 12 months - I must pay $15 to take that 'name elsewhere, it's still cheap for all.

If I like the performance & features, don't find anyone at/near the price with LightSpeed web server, & happen to find a "3 years for $107" deal, I could see me grabbing it.

      YMMV

  • US "unlimited" space is pretty cheap … i'd like Australia with unlimited space :/

    • I looked. XtreamTechnology [in Darwin?] had a deal here for $1.50 / month & they use LightSpeed web server… but were too slow getting back with tech support, today, so, I had to go iPage.

Xtream's normal prices were Au$ 1.99, from memory… but don't need support there, IMO. :=/

    • Unlimited-Space.com? They used to post their special discount on OzBargain. However at ~$20/month they are at "expensive" end of shared hosting.

      • My mistake… I got 1 GB from Xtream'

From memory, it was their unlimited transfers, sub- & add-on- domains, eMail address & ftp users that made their deal work for me (in the beginning of my 18 month agreement, incl free 6 mon for being in first 10 to sign-up).

Of course, I expected better response times from Tech Support. :-/

  • From my personal experience, their hosting really sucks for ecommerce. No third party SSL installation too.
I advise to go with australian hosting. I know it is a good value, but when come to hosting, i would rather pay an extra dollar to go with australian hosting.

    • I guess it depends on what you need…

I got 12 months from iPage for a group promoting
"Energy from Thorium" with no eCommerce elements, at this stage.

For now, it's cheap, unlimited "everything they need"
plus a domain name, for $12 for their first 12 months,
and -maybe- a $15 "hit" for that 'name, in future.

(They can always move, later, if iPage suck at [later] needs.
They have a year to find hosters using LightSpeed web server)

PS PayPal advised that iPage charged Au$ 12.00 (in AUSSIE $'s),
so it's a bit cheaper than I suggested earlier.

(Disregard my earlier error, that it's "US$" in several posts, above)
