I thought OzBargainers would only look at LED light bulbs that last 6 times longer and at least 50% more energy efficient.
Can anyone clarify if these slow start (as in < 1 second to activate) or instant start?
I have recently bought the GE excite series, (longer life but bigger globe) and they are so slow to start..
its only 1 second but its enough to constantly irritate me and I want to get rid of them.
Cool white fluros are crap, only good for the kitchen and bathroom.
Are these actually white light or yellowish light?
It the white colour you usually see in bathrooms which makes your skin look terrible
they're the ugly harsh white ones, buy warm ones instead.
white light. Yellowish is Warm White, which is the more natural homely light.
warm white is better.
we moved into a new home and replaced all the cheap white fluro ones with warm ones, you'd be an idiot to make your home look like a prison or hospital.

GE has been the best spiral CFL I've tried. Fast start up time and very bright compared to many other brands, but I haven't had them long enough to comment on reliability.
I paid $6.95 each for 20W spirals from Beacon lighting, so even with postage this seems like a good deal to me.
I bought a box of GE spirals ~May 2011 from COTD, and installed them in an investment property.
None have failed thus far, so quality seems to be good. Perfect timing for this deal, as I'd been contemplating purchasing some spares to keep on-hand.
