New small car recommendation

Hi,
We are looking to buy a new small car that can fit a baby seat at the back and one that is fuel efficient for city travel.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

what was wrong with the merc c class?

    • We are upgrading both cars and this one is mainly for wife to drive to work.

  • There are many that will fit your needs… take a look at what is on offer in www.carsales.com.au
and see if you can narrow it down to a few.
Most are well made these days… Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Ford, Kia, Hyundai,….. it is just on the servicing and dealership side of things that they get nasty.

Noticed that the Hyundai i30 has own lots of past awards, does anyone recommends this car?

    • Don't go by "awards"… some of the worst cars ever put on the road had awards… :-)

  • We bought a Suzuki Alto 18 months ago and it is still going strong. Was only $10,500 brand new and super fuel efficient (though it only takes Premium unleaded).

Can't comment on the baby seat though, you def wouldn't fit a stroller or pram in the boot… and you would need to pray you don't get rear-ended… but otherwise it is a great little car!

    • Wow $10k brand new is a great price!
      Will have to checkit out.

  • I hired a Hyundai i20 on a recent trip East. 1 person + 1 bag = struggled to get up hills. Wasn't a bad car, used any petrol incl E10, just a little underpowered. i30 probably similar with 2 ppl + kids, but still cheap on fuel.

    • Thanks. Hmm. the VW Golf would have more power, but it is also more expensive…

  • A good site to get feedback from actual owners of vehicles is www.productreview.com.au
Check out the owner feedback from VW Golf owners in there.. (this is not a recommendation)

    • Thanks!

  • Go the Hyundai i30, maybe the wagon if you want more space for the pusher (if you need one).

If you want a slightly larger car, go the Hyundai i40/i45. Both larger, but personally, I'd recommend the i30. Built better than a Corolla according to a lot of car reviews.

    • Thanks Medrad, i30 is top on our list atm.

  • The KIA Ceranto and Ford Focus also top of the list.

  • You are best to go and try these cars at Dealerships. After all, it is your new investment and you'll have to drive it daily.

    • Yep. Gonna head in this week for some test drive.
But wanted to do some research before hand

Have a look at the liquidation deals on remaining Opel models.

  • Ended up getting the Hyundai Elantra Trophy.
