Hey guys,
Just wondering if you guys can give me feedback as to how long a manufacturer should take to replace a laptop.
My laptop had some problems so I sent it back to the manufacturer. After nearly a month waiting, I finally got fed back and got in touch with them, where they told me that the spare part being ordered would take a while longer to arrive (~est. another 10 or so days).
So anyway, they were nice enough to offer to replace and upgrade my laptop to a newer model (very generous of them!) - however, the fine print being that it would take another 21 working days for this laptop to arrive, which altogether makes this nearly 2 months of waiting around for a functioning laptop. And yes, it said allow around 21 working days, NOT up to 21 working days.
There was also no clarification on whether this would be a new or refurbished laptop either.
Now, obviously I'm happy that they went out of their way to replace me with a upgraded (and hopefully not refurbished) laptop but I am concerned that I should have to wait over two months for a replacement laptop. My question is whether something like this is normal in the industry - I've never had something take this long to replace before.
- PS * Not looking to start something so please avoid the "CALL THE ACCC MANGGG" rhetoric. I very much appreciate their generosity in both replacing and upgrading the laptop - and I'm not looking to be greedy here.
Thanks again in advance for any help given, and yes, I intentionally left out the manufacturers name as I'm not looking to unfairly criticize the company.
Generally, they will provide the advice that it can take up to 6-Weeks. This is usually not always the case, it is usually less. But it's truly to cover their basis incase it does take a long while. So 6-Weeks is the estimated time I would be taking.
The estimated time will also depend on the product you need replacing from or repairing from. As well as the manfacturer itself.
I hope you get your item back soon though.
