    SUPERCHARGED!

you run compressed air through them? is that to help with the cooling?

    • -1

It's to help push the data through much faster. You must've missed that class.

  • Just $400 + GST!

Do you know it's not legal to quote a price excluding GST where GST is payable…

    http://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#co…

You might want to pass the info onto your marketing people…

    • Their price has been ex-GST since their first post 5 years ago! Maybe they are targeting exclusively local business already registered with GST, or overseas customers…

        Hi jv and scotty,

Thanks for the feedback. As scotty has pointed out, when a business is making offers for primarily business use, except in newspapers and on TV, advertising ex GST pricing is acceptable, as long as this is clearly marked. I'm happy to review how we mark that these prices exclude GST, however this advertisement of our pricing is in line with a standard B2B practice.

As to it having compressed air run through the servers, in actual fact, yes. Being that we operate from world class datacentres, we utilise all sorts of cutting edge, green technologies in order to run efficiently, meanwhile with all of the best technology minds in the country to get the servers running as well as possible. Great rates are just because we're not greedy and want everybody to have something to tell their friends about!

As to it being "literally" supercharged? Call it marketing spin, that's fine. :)

What about "literally" the best technology minds in the country? Is this just marketing spin as well?

      • Maybe they are targeting exclusively local business already registered with GST, or overseas customers…

I don't see where targeting a local business excludes them from the ACCC rules.

Regardless, most of the readers of this post are unlikely to fall under that category, so the title should say $440 as per ACCC…

Jv has a point. These are high end servers… There is no targeting of business specifically. On most web hosts business targeted hosting is nowhere near this expensive. On that note I don't see the big deal, but it is what it is.

  • Hi Rep,

How do these offers differ from your "Ready to Go Cloud VPS Plans" ?

    Diamond Virtual Private Cloud Server
4 CPU Cores, 4GB RAM, 100GB Storage, 300GB Traffic per month, 2 IP addresses, $150 + GST per month (AUD)

Ready to Go Cloud VPS: Platinum
    4 Cores, 4GB, 100GB, 300GB, $99.95 per month

Also, is cPanel included in the "Whole Package" or an extra cost?

    Thanks

    • Hi Daz, these differ to the Ready to go Cloud VPSs in that they include Web24 Server Management, valued between $85 + GST per month and $125 + GST per month, 2 IPs (one extra is $3.50 + GST per month) and utilise the superior Hyper-V virtualisation technology which delivers better performance, scalability and portability.

There's a lot of great benefits to The Whole Package, however the Ready to Go Cloud solutions still have their place in the world for the customers who need that kind of a solution.

  • Im in the market for a nee VPS, but my requirements a little less then your Diamond plan. However, are you able to provide a price to include MSSQL?
I have a small website with a small mssql database.

    • Hi int21h, we have 11 standard plans for Windows, including 5 with Plesk, and all provide an option to include Microsoft SQL Server - Express Edition, in either 2008 R2 or 2012 (and soon, 2014 will also be available upon GA). The boon for these "Whole Package" and "Whole Package SUPERCHARGED" plans is not only that the server starts with a decent amount of grunt and just goes up from there, but they also all include Web24 Server Management (as show above) which is made up of Extended Support ($65 + GST per month value), 24/7 server monitoring (from $19.95 + GST per month value), managed hardware firewall (from $19.95 + GST per month value) and managed daily backups (from $24.95 + GST per month value).

If you need a more robust version of MS SQL, you may consider the Web Edition or Standard Edition. Depending on which plan, this may start from $35 + GST per month.

  • Hi Rep,

    A few questions:

Just wondering about your scheduled maintenance… There's a status page on your site listing upcoming scheduled maintenance windows, typically 1am - 7am; how much actual downtime would we see during these windows?

Also, what speed is the connection these servers have to the internet?

I host a very popular site that chews through about 4TB/month traffic at the moment, so I'm potentially very interested! Reliability of service is my number one concern, though — I typically run above 99.99% uptime with my current provider and I'd like to keep it that way. Do you have any historical uptime data available?

    Cheers,
    Peter.

    • Hi Peter,
Thanks for your questions. A typical server will be affected only once per year and the window is a time in which the server may need a reboot. These are performed gracefully and typically are only down to 2-3 minutes while they reboot, plus whatever time your services require to get up and running again.

The port throughput is uncapped at the full WAN port speed of 100Mbps, with a typical speed of ~25-60Mbps.

We've had a very good result with our uptime exceeding the five nines and different resources resulting all well over 99.9%.

At 4TB per month in traffic usage, the Plutonium, with its 5TB of traffic, is definitely the option I would be recommending!
