Hi All,
Previous Telstra deal reminded me of this little gem. If you've ever worked for Telstra (or in my case worked for a Telstra outsourced partner) for more than two years you can register to receive a 10% discount on most Telstra services. Generally covers the cost of the Telstra supplied component e.g. doesn't cover handset repayments but does cover the plan.
The Discount is available for the following products and services:
(a) Up to 5 Fixed Full Service (Home Phone) Services;
(b) 1 Foxtel from Telstra Service‐ (Note: if you have a Foxtel service with Foxtel you must switch to Foxtel from Telstra at https://www.telstra.com.au/foxtel/switch.cfm before claiming the Discount);
(c) 1 BigPond Broadband (ADSL, cable or FTTP) or satellite service;
(d) 1 Wireless Broadband service (excluding Prepaid Wireless Services);
(e) Up to 5 “in market” Post‐Paid Consumer Mobile Plans (including data and tablet plans)
(f) 1 IP Voice solution (NBN)
(g) 1 NBN Broadband service (NBN)
(h) 1 Foxtel on T‐Box service
(i) 1 BigPond Dial‐up Service; and
(j) 1 BigPond Security Service (subject to being purchased on the nominated account).
Not sure of the actual numbers, but there should be hundreds of thousands eligible for this deal.

Eligibility
Former and current Telstra (or related body corporate) employees who were employed directly by Telstra and who had two or more years of continuous service are eligible to join the Telstra Alumni program.
Telstra Alumni Program – 10% Account Discount Terms and Conditions
- These Terms and Conditions apply (as amended from time to time) on and from 11 December 2012.
- Eligible Alumni Members (as defined in clause 3 of these terms and conditions) will be entitled to receive a 10% discount off monthly access, usage and installation fees of the eligible products and services (set out in clause 4 of these terms and conditions) which are billed to their nominated account (“Discount”), except as set out below.
- You will be eligible to receive a Discount if you are an approved Alumni member. (“Eligible Alumni Members”) If at any time you cease to be an Alumni member, the Discount will be withdrawn.
- The Discount is available for the following products and services:
(a) Up to 5 Fixed Full Service (Home Phone) Services;

5A. The Discount:
(a) applies to usage, access and installation charges, and Telstra downloads/content subscription prodicts (from Telstra.com or BigPond.com), including Mobile FOXTEL from Telstra; and
(b) does not apply to handset or device charges (including MRO), international roaming, third party content and subscription charges, credit card fees and late fees.
5B. The Discount is only available to Consumer customers with a 13 digit account number. If you are a Consumer customer with a 10 digit account number and would like to apply for the Alumni discount, you can request to migrate to a 13 digit account number by calling 13 2200 or visiting a Telstra store.
Once migrated, you can then apply for the Discount. You will lose any other discounts attached to your existing 10 digit account number should you choose to migrate to a 13 digit account number.- Business customers, customers on any Business plan, and any services used for business purposes are not eligible to receive the Discount.
- If you have only one service with Telstra, which is either a BigPond Broadband ADSL or cable service, you must first change your plan to one of the new BigPond Broadband ADSL or cable plans (that launched 1 December 2009) before you will be eligible to receive this Discount.
- The Discount is not compatible with some of our older plans that are no longer “in‐market” or on offer by Telstra. In order to be eligible for the Discount, it may be necessary for you to upgrade an existing plan to one of our newer, in‐market plans.
- The Discount does not apply to:
(a) Staff mobile Cap Plans;
(b) $5.50 Staff mobile Plans;
(c) any other plan or special offer as advised by Telstra; and
(d) handset or device charges (including MRO), international roaming, third party content and subscription charges, credit card fees and late fees.- This Discount is not compatible with any other staff discount (including the 25% staff discount). In order to take up this Discount, all other staff discounts must be removed before this Discount is applied.
- You (as the employee or ex‐employee) must be the nominated Legal Lessee on the account. The Discount will not apply to services in a business name or services used for business purposes. You can nominate authorised representatives on your account.
- To receive the Alumni Discount you must complete the application form at www.telstra.com/alumni once your Eligible Product or Service has been connected or purchased and you have a 13 digit account number associated to that Eligible Product or Service. The Discount will not be applied until the start of your next billing period after the application has been accepted and processed. The Discount will not be applied retrospectively.
- The Discount will appear as a percentage discount on your bill and only one discount per Eligible Product and Service type (as set out in clause 4) will apply. The Discount will be applied after any other “in market” discounts have been applied (eg Telstra Reward Options) unless otherwise specified. The Discount is not transferable or redeemable for cash.
- We may modify these terms and conditions (including withdrawing the Discount Program and varying the list of Eligible Products and Services) at any time by providing notice to you.
- We do not guarantee the availability of your chosen broadband service or FOXTEL from Telstra. ADSL, Cable, Satellite, Wireless Broadband (Next G™), and FOXTEL are not available in all areas.
- You must use your services in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions for that service
- These terms and conditions do not form part of your contract of employment with Telstra Corporation Ltd or its wholly owned subsidiaries.
