  • Love them chookens!

Why not just half a chicken…?

    • So I can order 2 quarters, both leg pieces - the best part of the chicken.

      • I'll take the breasts

  • +1

more chips this way.. but that's not always a good thing with Red Rooster chips.

    • +2

      What?! Their chips are amazing.

      • Not in my experience (soggy). Been to Southern Cross and Dandenong stores…

      • +1

Lol @ amazing. Clearly he's joking guys…right rory? right? lol

I reckon RR chips are slightly better on flavour than Oportos, theirs is nothing special at all

        • No. RR chips are amazing. But you have to get them on a good day, its 50 50 on whether they make them properly.

      • Lol amazing? Rorymeister - try Grill'd chips.

      • +1

        Ill chip in :)…

I find grill'd chips under cooked and I don't like the 'erbs they add at all. Refuse to buy them anymore.

Don't mind RedRooster chips but as a rule the are soggy.

Don't mind Macdonald chips though as a rule I find them oily.

KFC Chips are good they are usually cooked enough and I like there seasoning :). Interestingly the season on KFC chips is the main reason anyone I know bothers going to KFC at all.

Nandos Chips are great, they cook them properly and they IMO they seem to be more potatoey than some other places also Peri Salt is great, but relatively expensive.

George's Snackbar chips are great cause they cook them them properly, they are a more classic thick cut chip. They are a small snack bar in blackwood street Mitchelton Brisbane Queensland.

Just Poppys chips are Awesome with either Salt or Chicken salt. Just Poppys is small a burger place in small suburban shopping centre in River Hills in Brisbane, easyilly the best burger place I have ever been in http://www.justpoppys.com.au.

        • You missed Salsas, Hungry Jacks and Oporto.

  • How many red rooster stores are still in Sydney?

  • DAMN IT, I JUST HAD LUNCH.

  • Does anybody else remember $2 Tuesday's quarter chicken and chips at Red Roster….?Have not gone back since that ended….and this deal won't do it.

      about 22 years ago bob

then it became half price monday and tuesday chicked and chips

      • Yep, showing my age ! But seriously, my local Coles has large chook for $10 and it's pretty good, so no incentive to go to RR unless they have a really good deal, like KFC Tuesdays….

Who remembers Super Chicken? Red Rooster brought them out.

      • I do. Super Chicken became Big Rooster which became Red Rooster, at least in the part of Brisbane where I lived.

        • Big Rooster! That's right!

        • I vaguely recall Big Rooster, they had a kids meal that came in a red plastic boat container that I could play with in the bath (I was about 3 or 4) :)

        • I loved the silver aluminium foil boat container with the cardboard top form Super Chicken. I took that to a pool party once at primary school, when we supposed to bring a boat for the pool. Mine was the most home grown hillbilly one there and I loved it.

    • You know what, I came on the post the exact same thing! Monday/Tuesday from memory it was? I was in high school and we made that a weekly event. Loved it. Miss it.

That said, I'm taking my daughters out to grab this deal, I figure they won't get cheaper than this anytime soon.

  • I liked the last Red Rooster deal better, mainly because the OP said 'Red Rooter' in it.

  • Good deal.

But i've always had an aversion towards red rooster, ever since an aquaintance told me that he and one of his colleagues used to regularly spit on the chicken :(

    • My brother used to work there and he and his mates used to spit in the oil to see if it was warm. That was over a decade ago, I doubt they still do that sort of thing.

      • +2

Spitting into oil to see if it's warm? Dafuq…

As opposed to just putting the back of your hand near it?

        • +6

That's the problem with idiots. They ruin it for everyone.

        • +1

Even spitting out of pure spite makes more sense to me; because it's disgusting.

Here, allegedly, people were spitting into oil in the belief that they were actually trying to do a good job, to try and see if it was at the right temperature for cooking.

To be offensive, negligent and flat-out stupid… is a lofty new altitude of incompetence.

        • Well this was over a decade ago like I said, but you do realise saliva is 99.5% water and the other 0.5% is decimated in 200 degree heat.

      • +2

What wonderful career did the oil spitter go on to achieve after Red Rooster?

        • Workshop supervisor or something like that. Makes a hefty amount of money; of course it all goes into booze and paying fines.

        • Turned out to be a model citizen afterall. Good work.

I've had the misfortune of being dragged to RR, twice in my life. Once in Adelaide, the other in Perth.

I have to say, their workers are the most care-free, blasé, disinterested, least efficient group of people, I've ever come across.

At both locations, the workers seemed to lack any form of discipline, or urgency to serve the customer.

Experience may differ at each location, but the vibe was off at the two stores I visited.

    • Funny, in QLD I find Red Rooster staff to above average. What you describe is pretty much every KFC.

    • I once had to wait 40 minutes at the Indooroopilly store for a small order. They couldn't understand why I would be frustrated for waiting that long. Thinking it was a one off, I went back again later and had to wait more than 30 minutes. I haven't been back again and every time I drive pass the store which is next to a bustling KFC, it looks like a ghost town.

  • How much would this normally be at RR?

    • +1

$6.95 for one last time I bought one.

  • -2

rr is for gooses not a bargain.

  • Worked at Mirrabooka WA Red Rooster. They didn't know about the deal so we showed them the voucher. Manager came out and looked at it and then eventually gave it to us for that price :)

  • +2

This will do great for my anniversary dinner with the misses. Thanx

    • Just don't show her how much you paid for it else the chances of you getting some after dinner will be halved lol

  • Went to Red Rooster in Ormond VIC last night and was shot down…the manager said no…then I was sad

  • I remember when the classic quarters were $2.95. It was sad, because I couldn't readily afford it at the time.
