    so 87.90 delivered

    • m8, can you explain how do you get the $10 off? cheers

      • +4

The $15 off link is still working: http://www.oo.com.au/?cm_mmc=email--Promotional--Flirts_Feb_2014-_-null&cm_lm

        (From here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/133476)

        • everyone click this link instead then add your product for -$15

      • i was looking at the page then something popped up saying to sign up and received $10 off. so i did it and somehow if u add something it automatically -$10.

  • +1

Was keen on this, but checked amazon to find a crazy number of issues…

    • -3

thats the linkstation - this is the cloud station

      • +4

here is the correct Amazon review link. they call it cloudstor, regardless 2.5 stars from 7 reviews. more and better reviews for the duo and pro, but their internals might be different

        • +3

The review scores are pretty average, but reading through them the actual product doesn't seem too bad. I mean, I'm not expecting it to de-DRM iTunes movies, I don't need per-user permissions on my Pogoplug cloud, I don't want to build a mirrored pair out of them and I'm not sure why that guy's complaining about slow WiFi performance, given that it doesn't have a wireless NIC…

        • ……………………………

      • thats the linkstation - this is the cloud station

Its the same device, this just has the pogoplug cloud service as well.

        • Same is true for mac and PC, doesnt mean they will share issues.
yes the linkstation and cloustor (and if the cloudstation is indeed the same as cloudstor just for eu etc markets then it too) share basic hardware but the firmware is utterly diferent and it doesnt seem to have the same issues

        • The above links point to the exact same hardware/device, in fact PCs & Macs are the least identical…

  • Anyone know if it's better?
I owned a link station live, crazy low specs and bit torrent would crawl and web interface would halt

    • -2

there are a hell of a lot of 4.5 and 5 star review out there across the web for it, pc world, pc authority, cnet, just about every major name you can think of

      • +5

I often take those types of reviews with a grain of salt. They are often for products which manufacturers send over, of which they would more likely than not be tested and retested before sending over thus higher quality control than for the rest of us. But more importantly those reviews are for initial usage and impressions, and maybe up to a week of usage. A few days isn't enough time to determine the quality of a product. Especially if it dies a month later due to insufficient/unstable power supply which a fair few external drives suffer. It is better to only read those reviews to get an initial impression then to dig further and read user reviews, as they are actually using the product for extensive amounts of time rather than just a brief or short period.

        • +6

I think user reviews also need to be taken with a grain of salt, 95% of people who are happy with a product wont go to the effort to post a review where as a high percentage of people who are unhappy will, having said that it does have a higher negative response rate than would be ideal.

  • does anyone know model number of this product? also i am looking for bigger size 3TB or 4TB. any suggestions?

    • +1

This is the website for the product http://www.buffalo-cloudstation.com/en/products.htm

The model name would be CS-X2.0 as it is CS-X and 2TB, which is the largest single drive version available. Larger sizes would require the Cloudstation Duo or Cloudstation Duo Pro.

    • The next size up they have is this one its 6gb and I have no idea how it compares to what is available elsewhere.

  • +1

I was going to get one when they did the $15 off code, the Amazon reviews were so bad I decided its an expensive way to lose 2TB of data.

    • I'd say its a cheap way to potentially loose 2TB of data, at the end of the day I wouldn't rely on this as my only source for storing important data. For what it is and the price you are paying you cant expect the best of the best. However if it doesn't work as it should its not $90 well spent.

  • 27 Left from what I can tell

  • SmallNetBuilder say it delivers 15MB/sec write speeds, and 27MB/sec read speeds. Presumably, that drops off a lot if you're reading multiple files at once, either as NAS or Bittorrent.

I'm not sure it's a bargain; or who it would be a bargain for.

    • Best review I have seen, not for everyone but suitable for what I want it for.

    • It directly contradicts Buffalo who say the cloudSTATION has a 1.6GHz processor, while this cloudsor review says 600MHz
      http://www.buffalo-technology.com/en/products/storage-deviceā€¦ under details

      • looks like 2 different models:

        LS-X2.0TL (600MHZ)

        CS-X2.0TL (1600MHZ)

No idea what model is selling by oo

  • +1

This is less than I would normally pay for a 2TB drive on its own. Regardless of how good the quality of the device is, this seems like a pretty ridiculous price for what it is.

  • Weren't they selling this empty a couple of weeks ago for about 10 bucks less?

    • That's this one: http://www.oo.com.au/Buffalo-LinkStation-Live-1-Dri_P226329.cfm?cm_mmc=Retargetingtech--Sociomantic--USER-_-Electronics%2C%20TVs&utm_source=Retargetingtech&utm_medium=Sociomantic&utm_campaign=USER

      • Apart from having a 1tb limit the specific look family similar (at least wotgoulooking at them side by side as I am on my phone)

  • great price, but if the reviews are anything to go by, cheap for a good reason.

  • How does the bit torrent thing work?

  • I bought this for $117 delivered a couple months ago from their eBay store.
Overall it does what it is supposed to and I fine have any complaints side from it does not have DLNA support. It only supports upnp and even though your dlna devices with detect it, it won't be able to read it.

Torrent client works well and is fully featured, pogiplug integration is nice.
Over 100mbps LAN I get around 9-10mb/s transfer Raye but it does support gigabit lan so should be faster.
Over WiFi my speeds are much slower at around 3-5mb/s, but that is probably my router setup (dlink dir632 300mbps)

  • Looks like it's back up to 109, expired?

  • it's completely sold out now

  • can anyone suggest how to reset the password of admin in this device?
