Cheap computer speakers

Today I broke my headphones (well technically they work, but the hinge that holds the right earpiece has broke). They broke as a result of me pulling at them when they were plugged into my computer's audio port (which is on the floor) and as a result, when they broke, the desktop tower toppled as well (fortunately, the computer seems to be all fine).

I believe that to help avoid this happening again (as well as of course being more careful), as well as getting a new pair of headphones/earphones/headset, I should get some speakers and use that audio port instead. I'll deal with buying a new pair of headphones/headset/earphones later, but I'd like some advice on a new pair of speakers, with a budget of under $100.

i bought them just for the lolz factor and i'm surprised, they are pretty awesome for what they are

i used $100 logitechs that were supposed to be good but they werent 4 times better than the edifier

put it this way, i'm a serious audiophile who has a system that is over $5,000 hooked up to a PC (ie. floorstanding spks, sub + THX amp and processor) and i can still derive enjoyment from a $25 set of spks

Logitech Z-5 are about $60 posted from pc stores like techbuy, pretty good bang for buck. Or can get the subwoofer for 10bucks more with the Logitech Z323 (70 at logitechshop)
