Lenovo IdeaPad S10 - $469 @ Topbuy. Deal is Back!

60
TB121516

Ladies and fellas, just letting you know that the deal posted here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/13312 is back!

Since it was a sell out and some of you (keen sounding folks) missed out, i thought I'd post this.

Don't forget to use code TB121516 for another $10 off (thanks to bsmksg).

Note: This is not a duplicate folks, the above deal was meant to expire at 12pm today but sold out at 11:30pm last night. Topbuy has managed to secure additional stock and have made this today's steal of the day.

PS Judging by this website http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/12/17/osx-netbook-compatiā€¦ , this seems to be a good candidate for a hackintosh - only trouble seems to be with ethernet but most people use wifi these days so shouldn't be a drama.

Enjoy :)

I am so not getting into this again

Mwave just promoted the ACER ASPIRE ONE D150 for $420.99 (+$13 Delivery).

    WHAT THE HELL!!!!

  • for less than 100 more you can get the new asus@fluidtek , why bother with this or the acer

Which asus, and why is it much better?

      • I think from a brand only point of view lenovo > asus.

And this one has good specs for its price.

the newer chip is more power efficient.

I'm actually waiting for the Lenovo Ideapad S12 to come out. Interested in the Atom + Ion in a Netbook.

The Lenovo S10-2 is comming out as well. (Yes, with the "2" instead of "e")
It's slimmer than the current S10, and has a slightly better keyboard (a proper right-shift key)

(I am starting to realise that lenovo is pretty ex is Australia as compared to everywhere else. The S10's RRP in Singapore is SGD649 (AUD550) for the 6-cell version and Three-year waranty is SGD99 (AUD83) (it's AUD164 on the aussie site). Seems alot cheaper to me, considering it's RRP and not actual selling price)

I am getting one of this anyway.

  • First, I was going to buy the netbook from DealExtreme.
Then I found that the MSI Wind U100 was a good deal when shipped from the USA.

Then this bad boy came along and I couldn't resist. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Keen to get OS X up and running too.

    • I bought this. Though i think the Acer is a better offer.
      What's your view?

      • I've seen the Acer at a cheap price a few times. Whereas, the Lenovo seems a LOT cheaper than other places.

I think the Lenovo is better looking overall and is of a higher quality. Plus I want to get OS X going and the D150 isn't suited for that at the moment.

  • Been looking for a netbook for a while. Ended up buying this. They still seem to have stock left. OSX is on the plans for me too, hopefully it'll be all good. My main fear is that I will regret not buying something with a 6 cell battery.

  • To those who still read this, the Lenovo S10 being offered at TOPBUY is better than the Lenovo S10e offered by Lenovo Australia. (Note that the one by Topbuy is based on US specs, which explains the difference)

    Heres the difference:
Lenovo S10 (By Topbuy) ———- Lenovo S10e (By Lenovo) ——- difference
    10.2" Screen ————————— 10.1" Screen ———————— 0.1 inch
1024x600 Resolution ————— 1024x576 Resolution ————- Lenovo Ripped you of 24 lines of pixels
Anti-Glare TFT (Matte) ————- Glossy TFT ————————— obviously matte is better

Note though, the Lenovo S10 by TOPBUY are (1st Gen), therefore do not contain
Quick-Start (Flashtop), therefore you have to download BIOS update (Version 49, DO NOT use Version 67 as it does not work) as well as Quick-Start yourself.

    • Actually i have the 67 version and quikstart working , its the newer version of quikstart though

  • Where have you been able to get working drivers and updates? I tried searching from the webpage that opens as default in the Internet Explorer on my Topbuy S10, but didn't seem to be able to find the right model.
