      • wow, well done!
Glad I hadn't quite put my own order through yet

        • OP you should edit your deal to this one with the free ship. often people click/buy before actually reading the comments

Can't link to eBay unfortunately. Hopefully I have made it clear enough!

        • Unfortunately DSE eBay account has a really low rating (96.9%) so OzB won't let you link to it:

"Deal cannot be posted for domain ebay.com (dicksmithonline) due to: eBay deals can only be posted if the seller is a top-rated seller. If the seller is not a top-rated seller but has an official website, just specify the website in the Store Domain field."

    • Thanks for your post - I've purchased with free postage.

  • better confirm it support 1080P, older cable will have problem for that.

Not sure why you got negged. It's a legitimate concern. DSE don't even give a HDMI revision number for this cable.

Standard Speed HDMI cables are rated for 1080i/60; they might be able to do 1080p/24 but they won't good enough for 1080p/60.

HDMI 1.3 defines two cable categories: Category 1-certified cables, which have been tested at 74.5 MHz (which would include resolutions such as 720p60 and 1080i60), and Category 2-certified cables, which have been tested at 340 MHz (which would include resolutions such as 1080p60 and 2160p30)

Category 2 is usually marketed as "High Speed HDMI". And Ethernet connectivity can present on both standard and high-speed cables.

  • Damn i bought some of these at $4.95 but with free delivery. They appear to be of decent quality.

Edit: Sorry they were different cables. Mine were of the 'gold' variety.

From Kirts' comment in https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/133484#comment-1839988, Warcom have 1.8m V1.4 cables for $2.10 delivered.

    http://www.warcom.com.au/shop/flypage/network-cables/hdmi-ca…

    Just ordered 2.

    • I paid 4.20 for 2 of them an hour ago.

Should have invested in these HDMI cables, they have increased more in one hour than any stock i've had…

  • yoink ! just ordered 4 from DSE , cheaper than MSY!

The Warcom link tells me its $3.10 per piece

    • +1

The Warcom link comes up at $3.50 per cable for me… At this rate they will be $10 by midnight.

  • Hi, I am curious why this deal received less votes than a similar Warcom deal a bit earlier.

Do the "V1.4" and "3D" on the Warcom one make a difference in real world usages? Or is it just a matter of the posts' timing? Thanks.

    • +1

These cables are only 'Standard speed HDMI' not 'High speed HDMI".
Standard speed HDMI cables are not certified for 1080p, though most will likely work for 1080p24, anything higher they will most likely fail.

      • Just recieved my cables and they are in fact High Speed

  • +1

Timing of the posts is probably a factor, but also if you are buying HDMI cables you may as pay a few cents more (or less for the 1.8m version when it was $2.10) for a V1.4 cable that supports 3D and UHD.

  • so i am just wanting a HDMI cable to hook up 13" macbook pro retina to tv, will the $2.50 DSE hdmi cables be fine or should i order though warcom and get v1.4 of same cable but double the price. does anyone know what version the DSE hdmi cables are?

    • +1

Version numbers are irrelevant for HDMI cables, what you need to look for his "High speed HDMI" as the one from Warcom is.
This one from DSE is only "Standard speed HDMI" therefore it is not certified for 1080p transmission, 1080p@24 frames will most likely work ok with standard speed cables of this length, but higher frame rates or 3D etc it will most likely not work.

The HDMI.org have stopped using version numbers for cables, the are categorized as Standard or High Speed, both can be with or without ethernet support.
      http://www.hdmi.org/consumer/finding_right_cable.aspx

You would be much better getting the Warcom one, or any other High speed HDMI cable.

        • +1

As I said in my post standard or high speed HDMI cables can come with or without ethernet, as for all the other features of HDMI v1.4, existing High speed cables will work fine

Will any of the new HDMI 1.4 features require a new cable?

The HDMI Ethernet Channel feature will require a new cable that supports this functionality, either a Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet or a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, depending on the maximum resolution to be supported. The Automotive Connection System will also employ a new class of cable, the Standard Automotive HDMI cable, which is designed specifically for automotive use. All of the other new HDMI 1.4 features will be compatible with the existing categories of cables.
          http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_1_4/hdmi_1_4_faq.aspx#…

Therefore a cable certified as category 2(high speed) under HDMI v1.3 will work fine with all features of HDMI v1.4 devices, except the ethernet channel, of which I have yet to see any device that uses the ethernet channel.

FYI no manufacturer cable or hardware device is meant to be using the HDMI version numbers anymore.

No Use of HDMI Version Numbers Effective Immediately

Effective January 1, 2012, all HDMI products cannot make any reference to HDMI version numbers.

Please refer to updated Adopted Trademark and Logo Guidelines (ATLUG) for further guidance. There is no grace period for this requirement.

  • Fyi, recieved mine today and they are high speed HDMI cables

    • That's good then, you should have no problems with all current formats/resolutions and future ones too with the high speed cable.
Silly of DS to have listed as standard HDMI.

      • Yes it is, they call it their 'standard HDMI cable' which is kind of is, however they haven't really thought it through
