    this has the most accurate GPS receiver compared to the Etrex 20/30 and Oregon 600.

    The main con with this unit is it is heavier and large and loser resolution screen compared to Etrex 20
    2 AA lithium battery can last at least 6 days.

    I would have been happy with the Etrex 20 but cannot find a good bargain on it.

      In an open location the accuracy would likely be very similar, not more accurate, better or worse.
      However, in a limited reception situation (under trees, urban areas with buildings etc) the extra satellites the Etrex 20/30 can access should result in better performance (hold fix longer and more accurate).

      The main advantage of the GPSMAP 62S is the larger size/screen and different (easier to use) navigation buttons.

        GLONASS allows satellites to be picked up up to 20% faster.
        All the Etrex models supports glonnass

        Yes, Etrex's have GLONASS support - the GPSMAP 62S does not.

  Always fancy one of these handheld GPS units, but for someone who don't go trekking I don't see much point of getting one. iPhone and Android smartphones do sell trekking apps but I am sure they are not as sensitive in picking satellite signals and battery won't last as long as well.

  I have one of these. Good for geocaching. It's nice and solid.

  The Garmin UI is starting to get a little stale, but when you get used to it it's fairly flexible.
