However it is not really promoted as a competition, i.e. "having a chance to win beta key", but rather "availability is limited and no guarantee that you'll get it", like many other bargains featured here.
It just says
"Completing this registration does not guarantee access into the Titanfall Beta as seats are limited. If you have been selected you will be emailed directly by EA with instructions on how to access the game no later than 11:59 PM PST on Feb 17th."
Don’t those other bargains have an original option to be obtained, but usually at a higher price.
This has no other general basis to be openly obtained that has made this particular offer more of a “bargain” than a “regular” way of joining the open beta.
If this is the only way to be part of the open beta, then isn’t it more of a forum post than general bargain.

Titanfall comes out in roughly 3 weeks or so, so It's very likely It's going to be a stress test / advertising campaign to get as much people in as possible so all/most whom sign up, to increase the hype on the game. Definitely signed up as It looks like a great title!

The game will be running on Microsoft servers, of which Australia doesn't have any of at the moment.
This is supposed to be corrected in the coming months, as one is planned for Ballarat, Vic.
I doubt many (if any at all) people from Australia will be given the chance to beta test this. Why would we, given our pings will be poor compared to any opponent with our nearest server being in Singapore I believe.
As for no x360 beta, that version is being developed by an outside studio and not the same as the flagship PC and Xbone versions. I doubt they care as much regarding this version of the game, it might even push the sales of Xbone up.
I'll be playing this on the PC, but destiny is the shooter of the season I'm looking forward to.

For those who are interested in this game. A word of warning - there are currently no servers in Australia. You will be connected to SE Asia with a ping of 150 - 200+. So I suggest you try the beta or hold off until servers are available in Australia later this year
Most online games don't launch with Australian servers - it just takes adjusting too - although, FPS games are hurt the most by ping. :(

there are plenty of other genres, including this one, FPS.
How can they expect to launch a competitive FPS with no local servers? It's mind-boggling. For other games, you can get away with it..but latency is too huge a factor for a game such as this.

A lot of developers still underestimate the market in Australia/NZ, or even Asia Pacific for that matter. It's a lot better now than it used to be anyway! As long as the ping doesn't exceed 200ms, then it should be fine - Some connections will be 100ms even if It's SEA. I think Optus users will get the lowest ping considering they route over to SEA. Once there is (or if) there's AUS/NZ servers, then we should be looking at ~50ms.
I hope there's a LAN option for tournaments then, so it can be competitive.
I'm afraid the reverse is actually true, Optus only routes business data straight to SEA via the pipe in perth. For all its other customers (ie anyone wanting to play games) its routed through the US. Getting Pings of 350+ is normal for an Optus user to any SEA server based in asia. It sucks but hey, its Optus what can you expect.
I'm sorry but you'd be very lucky to get 100ms to SEA servers. Dota 2 was usually around the 150-180 mark and it was certainly noticeable in that game. Can't imagine what it will be like in an FPS where precision and reaction times really matter.
At least the beta will be a good chance to evaluate exactly how much this will impact gameplay, but my hopes aren't too high…

twitch shooters above 100ms quickly become unplayable for every 10ms added, 190ms is completely unplayable, 110ms is frustrating.
Its Microsoft's fault, just because Sony is owning them in sales so they do what they do best and go and buy out developers and make the game an exclusive hence why Respawn has to use Azure which there arent any in Aus atm so I give M$ a big flap you. End of rant ;)
One is pencilled in for this year at the Ballarat tech park, only months if you believe what you read, but 6+ months is my guess.
It's okay if you're a console user because the game has an insane level of autoaim.
That's so far from OK I don't know what to say, it took me a couple of seconds to realise what I was seeing because my brain couldn't process just how horrible that is.
Hard to really form an educated opinion based on this…. the weapon also specifies 'Smart pistol: close range lock on', so this may be a feature of this particular gun… who knows?
I did notice that, you'd have to see the same footage being played on PC to know what this actually meant. Still, I have seen footage from console and the movement is so jerky due to the nature of the controller/stick usage that without autoaim you'd never hit anything, but that's nothing new, most console FPS's autoaim to varying degrees.
Yeah, I believe that particular weapon is part of the Recon class which has multi-lock-on capability… I highly suggest checking out some gameplay footage and reviews:

Have to be close for lock on. On AI controlled grunts it only needs one lock on. For player characters you need to achieve 3 lock ons which takes time and you can easily be gunned down in this period. Just looking at that gif makes it seem overpowered but works well in reality.
Who knows, maybe with enough OzBargainers expressing interest in the beta, we may just get AUS servers :D
Azure servers are due later this year, maybe early next year so it won't be a problem then. Until then tho…
There was a site that you could ping to give you an approximation of your connection. I was at 190-210 from Melbourne with Exetel. Not so great for me.
Plus Respawn are shifty, supposedly the Beta will be on dedicated servers to make gamers think 'oh its not too bad' and then on release we'll all be stuck on 150-200 pings in SEA servers. Le sigh

Titanfall 2 will be free to play with boosters to get real bullets instead of bean bag bullets.
I wouldn't be surprised if Titanfall 1 does that by release.

Meh, played the beta ages ago. Was ok but hardly any players at all and got old quick. From memory it was pay to upgrade parts, etc. Not sure if that still applies.

Probably going to need to get off your high horse at some stage fella. It's really not that terrible to use, it literally makes no sense to forego the opportunity to play a great game just because you're hung up on using a piece of non-intrusive software.

I used to buy most of their games, now I buy none. I've probably got 100 games in my to-play list which I have purchased and not played yet so I'll just keep playing through the pile and supporting other publishers. And stick with Bad Company 2 for now.

Same here; I almost certainly clicked on "PC" when I applied, so I'm pretty disappointed that the Xbox One key doesn't work on Origin. :/
