    Stale muffins FTW.

  • I wonder if they'll be equally pleased (if not more) to hike up the fares accordingly

If they want to be a rival to QANTAS they should offer food and drink anyway.

who needs food and drink on a 1:15 hrs flight from SYD-MEL ?

Rival Qantas? I think the whole Idea is to do it differently and that they do.

The problem is people whinge because they didn't get a mini muffin 'free' on their flight, whereas I'd prefer to save $50 and if I just had to eat on an hour flight, I'd buy a sandwich for $10.

      c'est la vie

  • Tiny pack of corn chips and small tub of salsa. (Melb <-> Bris on Mon)
Ok if you've bought a cheap ticket, but got the same on a flexi fare.

    Meanwhile in Adelaide…

      What's wrong with Adelaide?

This is NOT a freebie, it requires purchase of a flight…

Also, how is it a bargain if you can get the cost of a flight plus refreshements cheaper on another airline.

  • +2

yeh wtf how is this a deal/freebie

    • it's neither.

A free snack or drink won't make up for their terrible service. Not a bargain.

    • -1

      You can say that again.

This isn't a deal nor bargain - it's an announcement and belongs in the forums.

On the other hand, they are now setting a similar standard to Virgin America, who also offer a drink in flight. Only thing missing now are a funny safety vid and mood lighting.

By the same logic used to start this post, Singapore Airlines changing their baggage limits from 23kg to 30kg on all non-US and non-South America flights, should also be a "deal, freebie, bargain"…. so no. This is an announcement, but good one at that.
