If people keep buying starter packs, we're going to run out of phone numbers again…

As you are so fond to ask other users, what evidence do you have for your ridiculous claim?

Disconnected telephone numbers are returned to the Telco's allocation pool after a set period. Read your Terms & Conditions.

Australia has no plan to introduce 9-digit numbers in the foreseeable future.

LOL. That's because we converted over to 10-digit numbers about 10 years ago…

we converted over to 10-digit numbers about 10 years ago

What evidence do you have to back up that claim? (Your words, not mine.)

          ACMA Numbering FAQ:

phone and fax numbers were given an extra one or two digits so all geographic numbers have an eight digit number with a two digit area code … '04' mobile numbers were not subject to eight digit conversion

By ACMA's definition, geographic numbers are 8 digits long. Area codes are 2 digits long. Mobile '04' numbers are 10 digits long and were never converted.

If you insist ACMA's definition is wrong and we should count the area code as an integral part of a geographic number, then I say include the +61 country code too to make 12 digits plus one symbol (+).

They are going to start allocating 05 mobile numbers when the current 04 numbers run out, estimated around 2017.

Assuming the prefix for mobile remains as 04, that provides for 99 999 999 numbers, or enough for approx 4 numbers for every man, woman, child and infant in Australia.

Considering that numbers do get recycled after a quarantine period, im not overly concerned.

And again, thats assuming it remains the 04 prefix.

or enough for approx 4 numbers for every man, woman, child and infant in Australia.

if people get a new one each month because it's cheaper, they might start to run out.
numbers cannot be recycled for at least 6 months…

        • Infants also?…

        • if people get a new one each month because it's cheaper, they might start to run out

How do you know Australia might start to run out of people who "get a new one each month because it's cheaper"?

What evidence do you have to back up that claim?

Beaten by Alvian like a red-headed stepchild

if Telcos stop scr€wing loyal customers we will never have to worry about running out of phone numbers

  • I need these!!! Anyone see any in NSW?

    • +2

Me too. My iPad Mini loves these.

  • What inclusions are on it? Is it only starter credit (calls text no internet)

    • This is the usual $30 Telstra Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kit for $10 deal that everyone knows and loves, not one of those next-to-useless $10 SIMs. Fair question, given that “$30” had not been mentioned, though could be seen in the photo (edit: has now been added to title).
