      4 loans over 350k?

      • They don't have restrictions so.. why not? It's a great bargain…not!

      • why not, $2,014 gift cards are tax free

    One of the first 1000 eligible applications received;

Since this has been available for almost 2 months now, how would you know if you are one of the first 1000?

    • -1

      Simple…you don't! :)

If the minimum loan amount if $350,000 to get this deal your property will need to be valued at a minimum of $437,500 to ensure you reach the 80% LVR. This might make a lot of people ineligible.

  • Anyone heard anything more about the possibility of Ubank implementing an offset account for Uhomeloan next month?

    • +1

I get the feeling someone just made that up, one month out you would think they would let existing customers know already & I haven't heard anything.

  • isn't this just a dupe of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129040 ?

    • It got extended / renewed…

      Until 31/01/2014 (Expired)

Doesn't it cost $$ to transfer you home load from one bank to another?

I'm with ANZ and I bet if I wanna transfer it to ubank ANZ will want some fees

Will ubank want setup fees too?

    • ubank didn't charge me any fee's, have a read of the webpage.

You will have to check with ANZ if there are any exit fee's on your existing loan. I had exit fee's to move from myrate to ubank but the saves made it worth it.

      • "exit fees" illegal now, but watch out for "discharge fees"

        • They are if you took out the loan after the changes to the law, if you still have a loan from before the changes they can still charge the exit fees you agreed to when you first got the loan.

        • what is the difference? [serious]

        • exit fees (now illegal) are more penalising in nature, like paying for "disloyalty", whereas discharge fees are more administrative-cost-based. note: there is yet a third kind called break fees if you are on a fixed loan.

(not very helpful) definitions can be found here: https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/borrowing-and-credit/home-loan….

Discharge fees: I had to pay for them with my last prostitute :(

        • Was he expensive?

        • That's weird. Usually it's an unexpected bonus feature.

bankwest charged me some silly nominal fee when I left them, but that was made up within two months at the lower rate I was receiving. No Ubank setup fees however.

  • Even though you should not be charged an exit fee, these are the fees you should expect with any refinance. The figures might not be exact but are to give you an idea.

Exit fees if you have a fixed rate loan.

    Existing Mortgage Discharge Fee: $157
    New Mortgage Registration Fee: $157

These fees are paid to the land titles office.

    Existing Bank Settlement Fee: $200-300
    New Bank Settlement Fee: $200-300

Most of the banks use third party firms to attend the settlement. The settlement fees are charged by the third parties.

  • What about valuation fees?

  • This is an amazing deal. When I refinanced to UBank, they were only offering a $500 myer gift card and the discount was 0.20 percent instead of the 0.25 percent they're offering at the moment. I switched from a big four bank and they couldn't even come close to matching UBank's rate.
