There are evacuation orders around Melbourne

    This is not a deal. It should be in the forums. Also we don't want people currently affected by bushfires in the other states to be complacent and think that the threat is only in Vic.

      usually i would agree with you but people get notified about deals but not about forum posts as well as people going to the front page to look for deals will see this. it could well be people who are in the danger zone who like me dont listen to radio or watch commercial tv.

        Not sure who moved to forums obviously commercial interests not necessarily Duty of Care :(
        The point was to make people aware through popular media and CFA recommends to do so!
        Atleast can be updated to front page and maybe the RHS message module
        You will be surprised that some people don't watch TV or listen to radio

      morons have lost there homes by knowingly living in a fire risk area without being properly prepared. no water reserves, no water pumps, no fire suppression systems on there houses.

      its the equivalent of trying to ride a paddle boat from australia to new zealand without a lifejacket…..

      there's a difference between making fun of a non-deal posted as a deal on ozbargain, and making fun of the unfortunate situation or the people suffering from it.

      this is ozBARGAIN…not ozNEWS, or ozEMERGENCY, or ozHELP, or ozSYMPATHY. that doesn't mean we don't care about people suffering…we just realise that this isn't the place to be dealing with it.

      if you're so close to the fires, maybe you should stop worrying about people making light of an unfortunate situation on a DEAL website, and go help your neighbours actually deal with the unfortunate situation…

      i'm sure the people that lose their homes to this tragedy will sleep comfortably knowing that you defended their feelings from those horrible morons on a deal website…

        It shows what knowledge you have on fires. When there is a fire you go in the opposite direction not go and fight it so I don't know what your logic is but as long as you do know that's all that matters. 777 was just trying to warn people who may not have heard about the fires and it had only been on the "DEALS" page for a few minutes and had over 60+ votes before it was moved to the forums,so obviously many people did see that it was done in a positive manner trying to help people. If this spoilt some peoples day having to read it on a "DEALS" website then 777 should be ashamed for their actions….

          did i say to go FIGHT the fires??? NO, i said to go help people DEAL with the situation…ie. to prepare themselves and their homes, or to evacuate.

          not that it's ANY of your business, but i have friends and family who have lost homes and livelihoods to bushfires. i have friends and family that work in emergency management that are the ones who deal with bushfires. i have friends and family that VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME and RISK THEIR LIVES to fight bushfires and to assist those affected by them. so go F yourself, telling me about my knowledge of fires, just because you are too stupid to comprehend the distinction between having a joke on a deal website, and actually dealing with real life.

    The http://emergency.vic.gov.au/map#now is very good, better than CFS In SA, it tells you how many fireies attending e.g.
