24 Red Roses for $35 [Costco Membership Required]

450

I just saw bunches of 24 red roses at costco for $35.

I figured with Valentines Day coming up, this might be of use. Of course this requires you to have a Costco membership as well as to deliver it yourself. I am pretty sure my local florist will charge me at least double that, if not $100+.

For comparison, even in the recent Groupon deal posted here, had 24 roses delivered were $99.

Note for the more 'price sensitive' types out there. Find a friend and split it ($17.50 for a dozen)
Or split between 4 people ($8.75 for six).
I am pretty sure there is meaning behind how many roses your get. I think read somewhere that a single rose having the most meaning, so perhaps share between 24 people, and pay only about $1.50 each. However, not even Oz bargainers here would go that far.. right?

    Oh i found it!

1 Rose: Love at the first sight. The single rose, whatever its color, depicts utmost devotion to a single person. "All my deepest affections are concentrated in you".

2 Roses: Mutual feelings, especially if they are red in color speak of two people who are deeply in love and together form their own happy little world.

3 Roses: Stand for the three words in "I Love You", and seek to convey this very simple yet powerful message

5 Roses: I love you very much

6 Roses: I love you, I miss you. Speak of the need to be loved and cherished.

Good deal for 24 red roses.

  • When does the promo end?

I saw it at costco today, and it wasn't on special. I think this is their regular price.
I worry that they might run out of stock on thursday.

I found the card to go with the roses…

  • flower market sells 3 dozen at cheaper than that rate.

  • How long do roses last?

    • Depends, if you change their water daily and cut them (the stem, on an angle underwater) a week.

Depends, sometimes up to a fortnight, depending on how fresh they were when you got them, and this is an unknown.

Before you buy, VERY gently pat them on the head. If they feel crisp, they're reasonably fresh. If they are at all soft, don't waste your money.

You're going to get the best vase life from them if you use a floral preservative in the water - generally comes in a sachet from the florist, but if you don't have any, a tiny splash (maybe a teaspoonful) and a biggish pinch of sugar in a vaseful of water should do the trick. Change the water daily, and each time cut a small amount from the bottom of the stems, always at an angle.

At the very least, when they arrive, recut the bottoms ON AN ANGLE before putting into water (skip this step and you'll be lucky to get more than a couple of days from them) and pop into fresh water. Ideally, when you first take them home, snip the bottoms then plunge them up to their necks in room temperature water for 20 minutes before popping them into a vase, especially those with long stems. If by chance, they arrive with even vaguely floppy heads, this is the only thing that is going to revive them.

        • This is way higher floristrial knowledge than I expected to appear in the comments here.

        • Far more years than I care to remember in the trade. When I realised I was taking close to a pack a day of panadol for the hayfever induced headaches I decided it was time to give up.

        • Seems easier to take a single Polaramine/Telfast/whatever antihistamine here…

That would depend on how good your relationship is with the dame.

I'll let the missus spring for the membership, I'll buy the roses. Seems fair.

Perfect. Do they have a good deal on a date OP?

    • +1

They only come in bulk though… no not many, lets say in …caterers size.

24 roses for 24x hourly dates on v-day, perfect.

Remember every place has differnt quality roses, don't expect them to be like roses only or pearsons. These will be like your coles and woollies flowers, and they die fast. Good roses can last up to 2 week if fresh and maintained in the right way, been buying flowers for over 10years for the misses.

    • I have bought Costco flowers on a few occasions, but not the straight bunches of roses. The ones I have bought from Costco have had a couple of roses in them and were great quality => all flowers lasted for at least 1 week and many lasted for 2 weeks.

A dozen for the wife and a dozen for the girlfriend. Good deal!

  • Anyone want to grab me a bunch or go halves in Sydney? :D

  • Anyone have any good value florists / flower shops for delivery (online purchasing i guess). As all the ones i find these days even the ones that used to be semi ok pricing are all exorbitant now. ITs amazing how much they charge.

  • Just called auburn. None in stock also, they ask for a product code, which I would not know, if op could post which location would be nice.
