Cheap tablet device?

Hi all, I'm wanting to buy my older sister a tablet device. I've never owned a tablet device before and neither has she so I don't know what I'm looking for.

I just want a good bang for the buck tablet.

Thanks!

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that my sister has never used a PC/tablet/iPod before! With this in mind, which is the easiest OS to use? Is Android easy to use?

  • How much is your budget?

The Asus Nexus 7 is probably the best all round device. Current best price is $289 from The Good Guys (or pricematch OW).

    Probably the Nexus 7 (2013).

  • I'd definitely go Nexus 7. I bought a refurbished 2012 model from Centralfield and absolutely love it. I paid $129 for the 16GB model, that's currently out of stock but you can still get the 32GB model for $159.

  • Nexus 7, Sero 7 pro or Acer Iconia A1. Also, any operating (windows, android, ios)?

Everybody above is recommending the excellent Asus/Google Nexus 7, but given that OP is apparently a pensioner and is looking for a tablet for an older sister, a 10-inch screen is probably a better idea than a 7-inch. Those of us north of 60 don't have the eyesight that we used to, unfortunately.

I'd suggest the 10-inch Asus MeMO Pad FHD, which will likely cost $350-400.

  • Thanks for your replies guys!

    • There's not much of a learning curve for modern mobile OS's these days. An Android device is just as easy to use as an Apple device.
