  • Works on Retina MacBook 15 ?

    • I checked with Apple and they say as long it supports 15" macbook pro, it is fine.

    • I have registered my mac pro 15" retina with Apple for Applecare without any issues using this product.

  • lol thank god it isnt the Landmark Computers I used to work for in Canberra, they ended up selling it and keeping the Hurstville branch going. Still there, no idea if its the same people but they were awful, and terrible judges of character. They had a thief, so they fired everyone that worked for them EXCEPT the thief (Including the best manager I have ever had, and the only other person in the company making sales).

      • What has your comment got to do with this story or this deal?
Why do you care? trolling again?

        • Your irrelevant story about a completely unrelated business may have put people off from purchasing from them, and put people off this deal. Clarification is required as to why you posted your story - is it related to this business or not..and if not, why are you posting negative comments in this businesses deal..?

Remember that you're covered under consumer guarantees for at least two years. So you're pretty much only buying one extra year of coverage, not the two years Apple gives the impression they are selling.

    • Just makes me sad that the 17' is gone

Even if it's a relatively good price I can't bring myself to + since that's an awful lot of money for not a lotta cover

    • You may have misread the "two years".

If you look at the actual legal declaration by the ACCC signed by Apple instead of the headlines the newspapers made up (possibly from ACC sound bytes), it says no such thing. It said Apple would go BACK two years to contact people who needed repairs and re-evaluate whether they should have been charged. Apple also committed to keeping ACCC brochures in their stores. But it never said, once, anywhere, you would now be covered by a two year warranty.

I'd challenge you to find it and point it out. In the legal declaration the ACCC published. Not the other crap.

Confused? Take a look at the current Apple warranty page for Australia, again, nowhere does it mention anything except a one-year limited warranty: http://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

Yes. If you go to Apple and they deny you a warranty within the first two years you can very likely challenge it in court and win, at the expense of your own time (and the risk of them to refuse to do business with you in the future, as they would legally be entitled to do, though there are no documented cases of this that I know of). But you won't have 2 years warranty off the bat. They won't just give it to you. They will still try to charge you for it and make you go through hell to get it.

"Without limiting consumers’ rights, Apple will provide its own remedies equivalent to those remedies in the consumer guarantee provisions of the Australian Consumer Law at any time within 24 months of the date of purchase. For the avoidance of doubt, Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products."
        Pretty straightforward there…

  • Its worldwide so could be handy for someone , not all countries have as good consumer warranties as us. But hey they pay less for the product

  • Well done, Skinny.

On a genuine, no grey-market, no-fly-by-night NZ or Tuvalu website offering half-price AppleCare, this is pretty good.

I'd take it up myself except that my employer salary packaging already includes bundled AppleCare and other goodies with laptops and desktops.

Thanks for sharing. Will point this deal out to my son and brother who bought their new MacBooks as private customers the same week of January as I got mine via SP.
