I am looking for a function hall for 50 members to celebrate my daughter 1st bday.

Is there a CWA hall nearby? Their rates are usually fairly reasonable (or at least they were the last time I checked.)

I have enquired few halls with holroyd council and they charge 558+108.6 open -close fees + 300 bond(refundable) for 8 hours
why don't you looks for some venues with food , depends on you budget.
Will take all the headache for preparation and buying food and you should be able to get around $30 /person with 3 course meal
Also will suggest to call around the some restaurants , you will be "surprised"

maybe try your local scout halls,the older scouts might even help out at your function for a donation
In WA some local playgroups hire out their venues which includes use of the playground and toys - maybe check if there is similar near you.
Local churches, particulaly ones with playgroups. They are remarkably well equipped.
Thanks all for your suggestions,I have booked Parramatta council hall for 6 hours with their standard rate 381 in total.Crossed my budget tho :-(
I can't help you directly but usually schools will hire out the hall for $20 - $30 an hour. Then you have community centres as well, which aren't always used all the time.
I hope you come up with something. With all those school halls built at exorbitant cost to save the economy, you will no doubt find something.
