  • $599 at Fluidtek… Not sure about the postage though.

Edit: Never mind. Price updated when I posted the comment.

    • yeah i forgot to post the coupon code to get the $25 off

i am also wondering does fluidtek really got it for that price….

    • did you forget to mention fluidtek's absolutely terrible service? the owner is insane. Personally, I wouldn't deal with fluidtek.

555 at fluidtek pickup , why do i feel like i am advertising for them lol

This is off-topic, but topical: this is probably stilll a very decent netbook choice, but the new wave of netbooks using th N280 chipset (w. the new wifi 802.11n spec) may be out soon. Plus, check out the 500Gb Futisu low-consumption 5400rpm 2.5" SATA external at OzStock.com.au, posted recently. $140 incl backup software. Not bad as a retrofit if you wanted a bigger HD. :) It's $7.95 shipping if you're not close to Silverwater NSW for pickup.

Just FYI, here's the attractive Eee PC 1005HE spec sheet: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=BtksJTDENqfsnuyf

I guess MSI has the X340 (??) as its own version. Remember to get these within 30 days of an OS trip, to take the netbook and tax invoice to the GST refund counter, in the airside section fo your airport.

    • This does have the N280 chipset.
Problem mught be that some tests are saying that N280 is slower than N270.

I didn't see the + in the model number, which explains the newer spec… Thanks, Crownie!

IF it does the job, then it's a bargain at this price range - see the better price mentioned above in comments. :)

    • Just noted Eee PC 1005/1008's newly designed keyboard with full length right shift key. NICE!

  • Worth consider the Lenovo S10 (not S10e which uses 10.1" glossy 1024x576 LCD) at same or lower pricepoint. Has the higher capacity 6x2600ma celled battery (vs 2200ma used in U100+), but has the 2.5W N270 and 802.1bg only, but gains an expressport.
msy and landmark are selling the 6-cell S10 for $575 and $595 respectively.

    • I can only see the S10G in the MSY price list, has the S10 been removed, it was listed a few weeks ago.

      • Lenovo S10-G 6-cell 10.2" for $575 www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf
        Lenovo S10-C 6-cell 10.2" for $595 www.lmc.com.au

These model numbers (S10-G/S10-C) appear to be just the Lenovo S10 with a 6-cell added. So are not the Lenovo S10e 10.1" glossy 1024x576.

    • Do not buy the Lenovo s10 , i bought mine 3 weeks ago , go to www.s10lenovo.com to check the current problems.

Does not come standard with the 6 cell only the 3 cell

Twas a great deal at the price $499 + $40 for 2gb ram (yes it can take 2gb) although the daily emails to the servie centre and the week they took to repair it and it still does not work as it should random shut down and fan high pitch and the fan is 90% flat out all the time.

Otherwise awesome notebook looks excellent until i turn it on and get annoyed

      • S10-C/S10-G are advertised as 10.2" with a 6-cell (using 2600ma cells, according to landmark website). There's 18% more battery life without extra weight over a 2200ma celled battery, as is in the U100+ or ASUS 1000H/1000HA.

        • check out the link to the official support forum provided above for the exact or correct config.

Some stores may be putting the cheaper ebay 6 cell battery (guessing)

$499 from k and s online http://www.ksonline.com.au/ but obviuosly that price has changed

  • Has anyone purchased from mwave before? Are they reliable?

  • If anyone is looking for extended battery life, consider a 6-cell $559 BenQ U101 + $138 16GB 1.8" 63/63 Runcore ZIF SSD for your os and apps from http://www.solidstatecentral.com.au/store/index.php?main_pag… . Hybrid SSD+HDD solution gives performance, battery life, storage, all for under $700. Keep HDD in spindown mode until need it to save power. Like the MSI Wind U115 promises to deliver.
