Nintendo Not Cutting Price Of Wii U

In Nintendo's latest address to shareholders they have said a few things-
. Mario kart 8 comes in May
. Nintendo ds virtual console coming to Wii U
. Nintendo Wii U price cut is Not an option
. Nintendo will license it's characters.
. Nintendo will focus more on the gamepad
• Non-wearable health monitoring systems are in the works to improve quality of life
• The Nintendo Network ID will expand to smartphones, but Nintendo games aren’t going mobile
So looks like it's going to be up to retailers to do the price cutting for us.
Good read here about it all.

    • No improvement to Nintendo ID.

    lol, gg Nintendo. Idiots.

    • Tell me about it! They are going in the wrong direction

    • how is focusing on gamepad bad? that's one of the things that differentiates themselves from Ps4 and xboxone. Srsly you can only increase graphic quality so much to a level where I'd probably rather be playing on a PC.

      • It's bad because it's expensive to produce. Which means they can't lower the price of the console to something realistic of comparing to PS4. It needs to be optional in a cheaper pack.

        • What's the point of reducing the pack to being without the Gamepad when some games are developed with it in mind, and it's the primary point of differentiation. If it didn't have that, the Wii U would just be an underpowered console (relative to PS4/XBone) without enough buttons on the included controllers.

        • Some people just want to play Nintendo games with the Pro controller. There's not many games where the gamepad is required.

        • Point taken- but I think if the only reason to buy a Nintendo was for that rather than innovative new gameplay experiences, it'll be an even harder sale compared to the other consoles. For me I only was able to buy a Wii U because I know it'll be my secondary (well third) console after my X360/PS3 (haven't yet committed to latest gen!).

        • No, it WAS expensive to produce - unfortuantely they produced MILLIONS of them when production costs were still super high; now they can't drop the price of the console or else they'll be losing money.

If they were producing them as they go, production costs would be much cheaper now (that 6.2" shitty screen would be pennys to produce now).

  • Virtual console would be good, but for some reason the wii u one is just terrible compared to the wii one (I know u can use the wii one on the wii u, but its like old and makes u have to use a normal stick etc, seems dumb).

Also I want pokemon snap with pad.

    • That's a good idea. The potential of the Gamepad for new and original ideas is absolutely enormous; one could almost say limitless.

It's a shame that everyone is just pretending it's an inventory screen or a map, right now. And dooooooooown goes the Wii U. Thankyou for the buyer's remorse Nintendo.

      • Works pretty well for the 3DS.
