Kogan Replacement Phone

Hi guys and girls

I've had a rough patch with my devices lately and my Kogan bought Galaxy S3 (bought a year ago, still under warranty) died. After sending it to them, they deemed it faulty and said there is no replacement atm and offered me $518 in store credit (the amount I paid for it a year ago).

My question is: Should I accept or try to get a refund in cash? What phones for that price are worth getting from them?

Many thanks!

Some runner up phones just from browsing around, all will end up being approximately $500:

  1. Nexus 5 16gb http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lg-google-nexus-5-d821-16gb-blac…
  2. Galaxy S4 Active http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-s4-active-4g-lte-…
  3. LG G 2: http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lg-g2-d802-4g-lte-16gb-white/

  • You could buy the same phone again for $419 and get another 12 months warranty, and a bunch of accessories. Personally I would get the LG G2 ($479), a bit of an upgrade.

  • I think you've got a good deal there, you basically get a free upgrade.

Great that Kogan is refunding you the full amount when it cannot service the warranty. Free upgrade! Out of the list I'll probably pick LG G2 as well.

  • Another vote for the G2. Note that it doesn't have an SD card slot so you may want to investigate the 32GB model.

  • I was a bit wary when I bought from Kogan, and a little bummed out when it broke down. However, their post sales support has been prompt, professional and overall a breeze!\

I'm very interested in the G2, and looks like I'll purchase the 32gb version (which has around 22gb useable). I'll contact them tomorrow and see if we can work out some deal, otherwise I'm paying an extra $40 (total at $560).

I'd rather get a high spec phone to use up the shop credit, plus these windows phones seem a little behind on the specs! Can I ask how would you rate the windows phone experience? I worry about app availability!

Having had the S3, if you liked it I would've thought you'd upgrade to the S4, a no brainer IMO, agree Apps availability is an issue. Many of my friends have the S4, quite good!

~Apps, they mostly have what you want e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Telstra 24x7, subway surfers… the apps aren't a worry now
~If I was you I would get the 1320 as it is a larger phone, nice screen (IPS), good camera + a microsd slot
I may be a little bias as I love these phones, having 2 myself, but the experience is pretty good! :)

  • Not sure if anyone will see this because it has been a while, but Kogan kept stuffing up the refund/store credit so I finally got a cash refund today. I don't want to go down the grey import route again, so any help finding me the best deal for the LG G2 32gb is very much appreciated!
