  • By the way, additional IPv4 addresses cost $1.50AUD

    • I mean per month.

  • Are there any reviews of this place somewhere?

    • Check lowendbox. Xenpower are owned by prometeus too.

    Any good for farming dogecoin?

  • I am looking at their 2GB Ram, 100GB SSD drive XenPower in Italy for $12.90 USD a month. I will post a benchmark if I end up getting it, just waiting to hear back about extra IP costs per month to see if they do it monthly or only yearly.

Judging from what I have read and seen, Prometeus is a very good and reliable provider, generally topping out the top list of providers on LowEndBox every quarter.

Their Rage4 DNS services for $15 a year may be worth considering if you host DNS also, it will mean better DNS service and a saving of about $100 a year to me from Amazon Route 53

EDIT: Looks like they dont do yearly IP's in Italy, oh well I guess I can deal with just 1

  • I've tried a whole heap of VPS's but none of them compare with my Digital Ocean droplet.

ridowling03's reply above has me thinking though. 100GB SSD and 2 GB ram for only 12.90 sounds like a bargain.

Please post your benchmarks. I will update this post with my digital ocean ones.

edit: hdd performance from digital ocean

    root@butter:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 4.29787 s, 250 MB/s

    • My serverbear benchmark above has detailed benchmarks in it but I'll do a disk IO check of my system now it has active content on it and traffic is flowing

      dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.87082 s, 574 MB/s

A good idea if you do order this, since you cannot use your own ISO unfortuantely, is to check and make sure your disk is using ext4. My CentOS was using ext3 and as soon as I switched to ext4 it the Disk IO shot up. Also I followed https://clientarea.ramnode.com/knowledgebase.php?action=disp… and applied those tweaks switching /sda/ with /xvda1/ as that's the drive and the VPS purrs like a kitten now, runs alot better than my old one

Would one of these be suitable for a seed box?
