Which esky does BCF sell that Techni-ice also sell?
I'm pretty certain they don't sell any that are the same (Techni-ice only sell their own eskies), so you should change your post or at least link to the 2 eskies you're comparing.

      http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Evakool-White-Fi…

      http://www.techniice.com/ice-boxes/signature-series/105l-hyb…

It's 20 Litres difference but the size is almost the same.

Why should I change the post? It's not in the title, I'm not misleading anyone. I'm just describing what I was doing inside the post. People are free to make up their own minds.

Why do some people always have to complain? A good deal is a good deal. Shop around if you like.

Your post says "the same esky"!!!! It's nothing like the same esky.
The Evakool is a premium, fibreglass esky. The Techni-ice isn't.
The Evakool is 125L, the Techni-ice is 105. Despite being arger, the evakool is lighter.
The techni-ice may well be a very good esky but don't compare it to the Evakool - the evakool is a different beast altogether.

I spoke to techniice and they advised the signature series are similar to fibreglass as they are thicker they keep better than fibreglass. Which makes it very similar.

No reason to neg the deal altogether.

        • Agree with Chisel. You are not comparing the same item.

On a side note, if anyone on SE QLD is loooking at Evakool eskys/fridges check out the factory seconds store: http://www.evakoolstore.com/

You can save a bundle for trivial things like small blemishes. The smudge on my esky was barely noticeable.

I use a Techni-Ice esky and can highly recommend them. However, they are regularly on sale. So good price and good deal, but you can get this price most times during the year. Would most likely be better than the ones sold by BCF, Rays, anaconda etc. Plus they are made in Australia.

  • I've always wanted one of these babies…

i remember my mate's ice box was still iced up after 4 days trecking…

These are always on sale :)

I happened to go to the website earlier this morning, and the "online chat" attendant offered another 5% off if I called and purchased over the phone.

I have a couple of these a large and a small, had them for years can't recommend them enough. No problems at all. You won't want to go back to 'regular' eskys ever.

  • I put the triple dry-ice pack into my cart, apparently $0.0 delivery to 2200. Didn't go through with it though cuz i didn't need it. Anyone tested this dry-ice stuff out? It's not normal dry-ice that's made from solid CO2

They're actually gel packs. When you first get them they are dry. You have to soak them in water and they swell up. You can then freeze them. The pours of the packs allows water to come in but gel can't get out. I hope that makes sense.

        Pores not pours… phffft.

          Neg voted for correcting myself…

  • Probably a moot point as they don't have any 60L fridges left.
I have one of their 60L fridges. I paid about $480 and it included "bonuses".
Just used it over the long weekend. I run it off a 12V 100AH (30kg) battery. And I also have 160W solar panel (PWM controller) setup. But I only got to use the solar panel on Sunday. The fridge ran from Saturday morning until Monday afternoon in pretty hot weather.
Happy with it but I don't have anything else to compare it against.

    • How did you only pay $480. I'd love a car fridge that size under $500!

      • I picked it up on one of their sales… You can sometimes get them "cheaper" off their ebay store…

  • the 85l wheeled signature series is out of stock until end of feb. does anyone know how it compares with a 85 LITRE ICEBOX WAECO which can be had for $269 with free ship on ebay.

even better $239 with free ship to vic and nsw http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/86L-86-LITRE-WAECO-ICE-BOX-WITH-W…

so is the techni ice worth the wait/price difference

    • Don't know anything about the Waeco but from the look of the esky walls in the photo they are about 2/3rds the thickness of the Techniice. As a guide the outside dimensions are ~20% by volume larger on the Ti suggesting that its insulation thickness is considerably greater.

The 85l will be huge so I hope you have a big truck. I have the 45l Techniice and it's a bit of a monster itself, athough relatively light when empty. The only way ice in the Waeco will last 10 days is if it's winter and you're in the alps. I'd go techniice but that's because good insulation and a very solid build was what I needed.

From memory I paid less than the $179 they're now asking for the 45l Signature about 4 months ago.

      • yeah the 45l looks to be great fit for size only neg for me is it has no wheels

  • The gel/ice packs actually do leak a bit of gel back out. They are slimey at room tempreture and i have not used mine for this reason. They make awesome eskys though imo.
