Monitor arms for PC display.

I have a computer monitor that I would like to use on my spare PC. Problem is that the space where I would like to put it is limited and to fit the monitor in I would need to remove the stand. Which is easily detachable and use a monitor arm that attaches to the side or back of the desk.

So looking for an inexpensive single monitor arm that can clamp to the desk. Just not sure what to look for or what's good to get. So need some advice.

  • I think the monitor stands needs the monitor to support VESA, otherwise you might have to make it yourself or modify it…

Either way, i wouldn't recommend using a $30 stand to hold a $200+ monitor unless you wanted to get rid of it… seems a little dodgy.

The only thing i could find that fits your description of cheap and attachable to the desk are below

I reckon the thing you need to look for the most is how much weight it can handle… that and check how heavy your monitor is without the stand…

    • this is the moniotor I have. Its fully vesa 100mm x 100mm mount compatible

Something like this stand or similar would be what I would be after.

      • Just wondering, whats the difference between the stand you posted and the one your monitor has now? They one you posted doesn't clamp to the desk at all… it sits on top of it.

It also cost more compared to the two stands i posted which can clamp onto the desk.

Anyway, it seems you have already found what you were looking for, you just need to find a budget that suits you.

        • I cheapest I can pickup the stand for is $45.05 from two stores in Sydney ARC (needs to be ordered) and iiBuy. With the stand I can lower the monitor so that it sits almost level with to the desk surface.

Using the current factory supplied stand it sits with a 10cm gap between the bottom of the monitor and the desk surface. Which means it won't fit in the limited space I want to use it without removing the stand and lowering it.

        • I think i'm alittle confused then…

looking for an inexpensive single monitor arm that can clamp to the desk

If you aren;t looking for one that clamps onto the desk then all the ones listed here would be viable.

Only thing is i would recommend ARC since it has more locations. iiBuy only has one location. And unless you live near it, can be quite a hard place to find/ drive to.

  • Actually decided a height adjustable stand would work out better for me. As this monitor does not come with one. I would like to replace the existing stand with one.

Just need to find a good height adjustable stand with smallish base that can support the weight of this screen and lower the screen enough to fit into the limited space I have. Like the one above I was looking at where the base takes up too much desk space at 52cm wide and 30cm deep.

    • Whats your budget on the stand? I think most stands are roughly the same size so it can handle the weight of the monitors.

      • Not sure. If I get an idea of whats out there first, I can judge the price range.

Obviously something like this is out of my price range.

        • Hmm this is the one you were looking at before… cheaper then before too if your in Sydney.

This clamps onto your desk and doesn't take up much space for the stand which might interest you.

They are both height adjustable and is <$100

        • I was looking at that one but the base it too wide. Takes up most of the desk space with no room to moove.

I did find this Highgrade one which has a smaller base footprint at 42.3cm wide x 24cm deep x 40.3cm high. Unfortunately only 1 place in Melbourne I could find sells it in Australia and I can't justify spending 3 times the price (delivered) of Brateck one. For something similar.
