Canon 700D body for $486.65 or 100D w Kit lens for $529.15 after Cashback at JBHIFI

80

That's the cheapest I could find the 700D body anywhere (staticice shows $545).
Both 100D and 700D are comparable in specs with the main difference that the 700D has some extra features like the tilt screen while the 100D is smaller and lighter.

    nice find

    • I've been looking at both camera's for a while but at this price I might just grab the 700D to upgrade my 550D

Canon has been using essentially the same sensor in their crop cameras for over over 3 years. The 700D actually has slightly worse image quality than your 550D:

I think all you'd gain is better burst shooting and off-centre AF point performance, and the articulating LCD.

        • Hmm. Maybe the 100D would be a better option then with the improved movie functionality. I know the 600D had a worse sensor than the 550D but I thought Canon fixed that up in the last model but maybe I was mistaken. Thanks for the heads up

        • If I'm not mistaken you'll also gain continuous AF tracking with the 700D while recording movies. Couple this with optimized support for the new near-silent STM lenses and you might count these as great improvements if you're into shooting video.

Edit: I think the 100D has these features too. I think the 700D and 100D are very similar in spec. The trade-off is mirrored vs mirrorless and the associated size/weight difference.

        • The video autofocus is improved, but reviews say it's still not particularly good. I imagine switching to mirrorless or a Sony SLT would be better if autofocus during video is a priority. The 100D is still a DSLR by the way.

The 60D at around $600 body only might be an option as well, since it's in a higher class with a better viewfinder and greater manual control.

  • Superb price! With heavy negotiation I got the 700D body only from JB in October for $670

  • Just bought mine about a month ago. Got the 700D with 18-135mm lens for $750, after the $150 cashback ($899 before cash back). Extremely happy with the price as well as the camera. Love the 18-135 lens. Personally prefer it much more than the stock twin lens kit.

    • Which store did you get your 700D with 18-135mm lens for $750?

Its not with kens kit, but body only so after factoring in an 18-55 IS or 18-135 IS your still out a pretty penny for a so-so canon
