Originally noticed that Dick Smith has the Z506 5.1 for $79 online only, so I went checking what Officeworks had them for and noticed this gem, the Z553's. I have been hunting for a set of speakers since I got the 40" DSE 100hz TV a few weeks ago with the horrible sound.

The store in North Parramatta (NSW) has 3 left…actually ended up buying a set of Z623 price matched with WIreless 1 ($149 OW down to 133 - 10% = $119).

Apparently the Z553's are a run out model thats why its reduced from $129.

Hopefully not too confusing……

    Just got this pricematched at JB - same $74 price.

    Had a play with the demo unit (only one they had left at OW) and found the sound to be superb. The volume control knob feels like something you would find on a NASA control station lol.

    Awesome buy for the price, recommend this unit to all :-)

    The JB I went to would not price match. Salesman said "that's an awesome price that I can't get close to. You should get them"

    Perhaps he knew that the Officeworks next door didn't have any in stock. He didn't know that the Officeworks down the road had plenty left.

      Followup - even though the sound quality is quite good, for their size the volume output of these speakers is suprisingly low. They are good enough for the desktop but not for a medium sized room.
