  • Hi do you host .NET 4.5 apps and MSSQL 2008+ ?

    • Hi thierry

We do not host this ourselves but if you have a server of your own that you want to run this on and colocate it in any of our data cetres, you are welcome to.

How is this a bargain ?

You charge $285 for 1 RU colocation with 1TB of data ( customer has to buy their own server ),
yet you charge $99 for for a server which you provide and comes with 3TB of data ?

    • Hi pig

Our colocation is completely different setup compared to our dedicated servers. We can't really compare colocation to dedicated servers as we simple own the dedicated server infrastructure. The power & network for our colocation cabinet is actually setup a lot different in comparison our dedicated server cabinet so there is a bigger investment towards our colocation service in comparison to our dedicated server cabinet.

        Different how ??

        • Hi pig,

We actually have a different set of power rails in our colocation cabinet compared to the ones that we have in our other cabinets. Also the network equipment (switches, etc) are different compared to what is also available in our other cabinets.

        • You mean different because they are on different rack cabinets or they are superior make and models ? What benefits does the co-location power rail has over the dedicated servers power rail ?

Just looking at your network diagram, it seems the packet eventually goes out via the same route as the dedicated servers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would it this outbound connection to the external world that normally be the bottleneck ?

Anyway, I just don't see how you can justify charging 300% more for colocation service than your dedicated server and call it a bargain.

        • The offer that we have here is waiving the setup cost and also offering the colocation for FREE until the 31st of January so that the billing date can fall on the 1st of each month for customers who take up this offer.

With regards to the benefits of the colocation, the standard power rails that come with the cabinet do not give us or customer the ability to monitor the power usage nor would it give them the ability to power cycle their server either. Where as with the power rails that we are installing into the cabinet ourselves, they have this ability for the customer to do this. APC power rails compared to CRS rails have far more options available due to the network device that it comes with and the whole web interface for the customer.

  • I'm having trouble understanding what Colocation means, is it like I buy a physical server and physically put it in your data center to use your internet/power, or is it that I have to buy(rent) a server from you, I don't actually have to leave home to deliver the server over to your datacentre?

    • Hi clse945111

Colocation simply means that you can place your equipment into our cabinets inside the data centres that we use. You can certainly have your server couriered to the data centre as well and we can have one of our technicians rack the server for you so you don't have to leave home.
