  • Actions to get an Ipad Free?

  • +2

The Action app seems to be FREE but it is NOT. When you want to set up a "Flow" of actions (eg a macro) they charge you $2.99 as an in-app purchase.

    I think that's a little cheeky.

    • That sucks. Almost downloaded the app. Thanks for the heads up

It is not free, in app charges to get you hooked, avoid it.

  • I'm tired of these 'Free' Apps. The occasional one is actually free but they are few and far between.

    • I think its fair enough, the developers need to make their money some how. Allowing you to try before buying additional features is always handy - nothing worse than buying an app and finding its rubbish. Its the underhanded ones that fool you into thinking you get everything for nothing then charge you for crucial features. I am always wary when i see 'offers in app purchases' under the title - the store is pretty good with labelling.

Yeah I have no problem with a good app dev making good money, just resorting to gullible people's perception of 'Free' is against what I believe in. I still have some great paid apps that have in app purchases and I make the odd in app purchase when its needed (of course from free itunes cards from Nine Rewards)

When anyone complaining about the 2.99$ inapp purchase can make the same in free … feel free to just develop it and post it here.
I think it is fair enough to charge for premium features. The dev needs to pay his invoices too …

A agree that most in app purchases are not great (100 virtual coins for XXX$) and I also don't like them … but in a few cases (like this one) I think they are fair and a good idea. The other option would be creating 2 apps … a free one without that functionality and a premium one …

  • No OSX Mavericks?

  • dunno wtf this is.. downloaded it anyway :)

It is misleading to advertise a product or service (at any price) and then charge extra for what the consumer thought they were going to get. The argument that the developer needs to make money is a mute point and not relevant.

For instance it would not be acceptable to buy Microsoft Word for $x thinking that a full version was provided, and . when you try to print you are notified that there is a $2.99 in-app purchase charge.

This app is the same; it clearly states the macros (flows) are part of the functionality which it is not until you pay for it; but that is not mentioned anywhere.

The result is that I spent about 30 minutes configuring the app and then finding that the FREE app is now
going to charge me to do what I thought I was going to get in the first place!

As I said in my original post - that is a little bit cheeky!
