Dick Smith - Should I nag

Dear OZB

I purchased [ordered] the following product through DickSmith [DS] before christmas.

They had some available in the distribution center at that time and the guy in the store said he can put an order through but i've wait for two weeks. I asked him if I could purchase the demo one but he refused saying that they don't sell the demo electronic items. So I paid $50 deposit for the product and waited for two weeks

On 6th Jan 2014, i rang the store to check the status of my order and the store person asked me to wait till Thursday. Today [Friday] I rang the store and i was told that i will never get the product coz there is none available in Australia and this order should not have been processed in the first place. So i asked him what should i do, as i waited for two weeks assuming that i will get this item. He said that he will sell the DEMO item [remember, they said they won't sell demo items] for $50 less.

I need your advice now, should i nag about this or just get the demo model from the store?? :/

    As demo is sort of used product and i think the battery life is less than the new product, wondering if $50 off is worth the loss in battery life.

    It depends on the warranty of the demo item, for example it might be much less then the new product warranty. If you are at all uncertain it may be best to get a refund of your deposit and walk away. There will be good sales at EOFYs if you can wait for more bargains.

    i'll try to get the DEMO XE700T1C [if they have one] for the same price. I know I may be pushing my luck here and if i don't get it….i'll get the $50 deposit from them and wait for next best deal.

    That's a load of crap that they can't sell demos. I bought a display ps3 from them without question

    Was in my local Dick Smith, staff boxed up alll the demo laptops.
    Put a new label with SAME normal price amd marked as demo sale.

    Don't sell demo? Complete bullshit. DS is really sucking as a company lately.
