Looking at travelling to the US in Mid March / Early April.
Looking for any tips of getting a good fare there.
Not sure whether to go PER - SYD - LA or PER - DUBAI - NY.
If anyone has any tips / airlines sales i would be much obliged.

If you're going to be travelling around continental US a lot during your trip, try momondo.com for multi-destination prices. You might find often the best deal would be going with one airline throughout. I checked the other day for a Sydney —> San Fran —> Chicago —> New Orleans —> LA —> Sydney and it came out at $2,000 with United.
I've done this a few times and gone via Tokyo or Auckland to LA.
Also landed once in San Fran and found immigration far easier than LA
I live in Sydney, so have no experience re departing from Perth, however I have always preferred flying to the USA mainland via Honolulu. You can often get sub-$700 return flights from Sydney to Hawaii (usually on JetStar), and then can find an internal flight between HNL and LAX (or wherever) on the much more competitive domestic US market.
Plus you get the added advantage of going through US immigration in Hawaii, rather than LAX, which I have found much less painful.
