Thought it was very cheap. Cheapest I could find elsewhere was around $350.

RRP is $979.00. This is currently on sale at Myer for $399.http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/home/cookware-sets/scanpan-classic-cookware-set-4pce

The RRP is completely silly, and Myer prices are always horrible.
Yes, a good price compared to what it normally costs. Good value? Not in my opinion. Also because these pans are actually quite small.

I have owned a number of scanpan pans, including the same 26cm frying pan. The frying pan is now in the bin, having been rendered unusable. It lost its non-stick in no-time, and became impossible to clean within half a year. We also own a (larger) Scanpan Dutch Oven, of which the surface is now like rough sandpaper to which everything sticks like crazy. Seriously, a stainless steel pan would stick less.

Scanpan can not be used at high heat. If you do, the non-stick is destroyed and the warranty is void. To me, that makes them useless except for boiling.
I have bought Anolon more recently, and find them much better. The non-stick stays non-stick even at high heat.

  • insert jokes about cheap DIY dutch oven here

I'd tell a cheap dutch oven joke but it might blow up in my face.

does anyone have a good recipe for an air biscuit?

  • I agree with 'Makeitso' as far as the non stick situation. I never buy non stick from any brands anymore.
I've been using their 'Impact' line for a few years and have been very happy with it. So much so I just bought a 10 piece set just before Christmas from Harvey Norman online. I just checked and they only have the 5 piece set available now.

Another reason I bought these is that I was sick of the handles on other pots/pans perishing and breaking. Impact model items are riveted.

Harvey Norman were the cheapest (believe it or not) at $302 delivered (included the newsletter signup code, thanks OzBargain).
Alternatively (at the time) the next cheapest was from KitchenWarehouse at $327 delivered. Although I see they've recently had it at $289 (bugger!) https://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/scanpan-impact-10-piece-…

  • Another vote on staying away from scanpan non stick. Scanpan impact stainless steel on the other hand is wonderful.

  • WRT non-stick failing after not long: Don't get them too hot and don't heat them with nothing in them. Also wait until they are cool (<100 degrees) before you wash them or even rinse them, the sudden change in temp does not do it well.

With that said, I have that set of impact and they are better than any non-stick - definately worth any extra money.

    • Some dishes need to be cooked hot. And putting your food in a cold pan that has not yet yeated up will ruin anything that needs to be (stir)fried. Imagine putting your steak in a cold pan then heating it up…
Good to know the impact are better. Will keep an eye on those.

    • By nothing in them, I mean - have oil in there.

  • I have used both Scanpan and SKK non-stick pans, and they all lost their non-stick coating after only one year of usage. Then I switched to Tefal ultimate frying pan about a year ago and I've never been happier with my decision. The frying pan is surprisingly light for a non-stick pan (my 24cm pan weights only 900 gram),very durable (the coating still looks as good as new) and relatively cheap when compare to other known brands($50). Unfortunately, Tefal Ultimate range isn't available in Aus,mine was purchased from Taiwan, if any of you are interested, Amazon sells them quite cheap even with the shipping.
