Anyone looking at this camera should also look at the Panasonic TZ40, which is $299 at Bing Lee (can price match at David Jones, and get the Amex $50 credit for spend > $250 if you have signed up for that !). The Pana gets really good reviews and has GPS tagging which the Sony doesn't. The Wifi features on the Pana are also a lot more advanced. See some TZ40 reviews below:

If you disregard the zoom will these give substantially better image quality than a iPhone5S when used for basic travel photos
