Need 4 tyres for my Toyota Kluger 2008

Hi,

I need new tyres for my Toyota Kluger GSU45R KX-S 245/55 R19 .

Currently use bridgestone d400 but only lasted for 31k. Expensive but comfortable.

I am in Perth, anyone that can recommend some good (and safe) and comfortable tyres at a good price?

I will not compromise on safety but love a good deal ;—)

Thanks guys…

What sort of driving do you do? There are many different types of 4x4 tyres

  • comfortable = soft compound = more grip = wears out faster = expensive

not comfortable = hard compound = less grip (bad in the wet) = wears out slower = cheaper

running a tire at a lower pressure will make it more comfortable but will damage the tire by causing excess flex in the reinforcement metal inside the tire

you could wait out for one of those Bob Jane 3 for 4 tire deals but god knows when they're going to do that again..

my advice is; know what your buying, compare like for like from tire shops.

  • i have also heard kluger owners are finding their spare tire go missing so invest in some secure bolts so it doesn't disappear, a single mag is expensive to replace and you'd also have to buy a tire to go with it

    • That's dedicated - the Klugers have a wind-down release mechanism that is inside the car and getting underneath the car to undo the wheel is a major PITA.

      • Not with the right tool. It seems most go missing when the car is left for servicing ect where others have access to the inside of the car. I have seen ads for full sets of 4 that have never been on the road… sus?? :-)

  • I mainly use my car for freeway and local shopping centre suburbia…

Have not yet taken it off-road ;—(

Need to be tires that are comfortable and safe…

  • I think you can get 4 of the OEM tires fire under $1000 on eBay. About half the price of a tire shop.

  • Beaurepaires had an online voucher for 20% off

    • care to share?

    • Please submit a link as it would be much appreciated ;—)

  • Not sure if it helps, but I found Tyrepower to be the best in prices and service in the past. So when I was buying for my Ford Ranger recently I rang around quite a few of their centres and asked for their recommended tyre and best price (they all differed in price and opinion). Wrote them all down. Settled on one from reviews online. I then rang my preferred local Tyrepower and asked if I could get the tyre for the price I wanted. No problems.

FYI I chose 4 x Maxxis 109s for $716. You know when you got a good price when other places had the same tyre for $200+ each. Their prices (in Midland) were the best around for Century batteries too (fitted them for free).

  • 4 tyres for my Toyota Kluger 2008 — sounds like a very good trade, would you accept 4 slightly used Michelins ?

    :-)

    • No worries mate, do you accept paypal?

  • What tires you get in the end?

Bought the OEM Bridgestone dueler 400.

I bought them from Kmart Auto, BUT…. You have to check the prices with each individual workshop as the difference can be a lot. I quoted a price from the Toyota owners forum and one kmart workshop actually matched it and I save $100!

  • bit late now but I always manage to wangle free wheel alignment with a full set of tyres, I would also advise
higher tyre pressures say 40 psi, will give longer life and better fuel efficiency for a small trade of in comfort
